Bug#851052: abiword: Work area flickers up to 30 thimes on every Charachter input

Also Lubuntu seems to suffer similar problem (again LXDE) [1],[2] and at one time was present on Red Hat [3] and also in Arch [4], sadly reading the Arch report I think maybe is a regression problem... searching directly with abisource found [5] that is assigned and open... so looks like upstream has not a fix currently. The Debian abiword package is orphaned so the only effect of this severity change will be to remove the package from stretch. Since the issue appears not always happen, I'm downgrading it. -- bye, pabs https://wiki.debian.org/PaulWise signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Bug#851052: abiword: Work area flickers up to 30 thimes on every Charachter input
Package: abiword Version: 3.0.2-2 Followup-For: Bug #851052 Hi, This bug is reproducible in real hardware (Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz) as well as in two virtualbox installations, both Debian unstable. I think that the severity "should" be changed to "serious/grave" because with such flickering Abiword is unusable. Bug#851052: abiword: Work area flickers up to 30 thimes on every Charachter input
Package: abiword Version: 3.0.2-2 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, After starting, the work area flickers up to 30 times. The flickering repeats itself with every character input and moust mouse actions. It seems that the upper part of the work area gets redrawn 30 times in about half a minute. We could verify this behavior on an Intel core duo, an AMD E350 as well as in a Virtual Box intallation.
