The package leaves the files
around after a build, and
fakeroot debian/rules binary
does not clean them.
Should binary target clean those files or is cleaning in clean
target is sufficient?
Something like:

Hi
This patch, apart from being much smaller, only uses g++-4.1 on arm
instead of both arm and armel (needs to use DEB_BUILD_ARCH, nit
DEB_BUILD_ARCH_CPU)
Thanks anyway, Peter, I copied your arch detection code, which is
much more elegant than my hacky attempt...

Hi,
After a reboot (with the same kernel) gpm suddenly started to segfault
on startup:
gpm[2435]: segfault at 0058 rip 0040c7d0 rsp
7fff273c5fd0 error 4
I'm seeing this with both a 2.6.22 and 2.6.26 kernel on amd64.
Hi,
It seems this is triggered by running
/etc/init.d/console-screen.sh start
When starting gpm again, it works, until console-screen.sh is started
again.

Actually your patch works fine, since D_A_B_CPU matches arm both on
arm and on armel. My apologies.

Hi.
I considered uploading the patch in this bug as a NMU, but I feel even
with this patch the postinst is broken, just in more subtle ways.
For example if I install this package with
DEBIAN_FRONTEND=noninteractive I get the following in /etc/mailreader:
# ls -l /etc/mailreader/
total 12
Package: libwine-jack
Version: 1.0.0-1
Severity: grave
This bug seems to make libwine-jack audio output completely
unusable on amd64.
1. Start `jackd -d alsa`, or oss backend, doesn't matter
2. winecfg
3. Audio - Jack backend - test sound
On i386, libwine-jack does *nothing*. There is no sound
It is indeed required on armel but your patch is buggy.
You need to use DEB_BUILD_ARCH instead of DEB_BUILD_ARCH_CPU,
which is arm on both, whilc D_B_A is arm or armel
Good to know.
Actually your patch works fine, since D_A_B_CPU matches arm both on
arm and on armel. My apologies

Can you try the following:
- install debugging symbols for gpm
- install gdb
- start console-screen
- start gpm in non forking mode (-D) and run it under gdb
- send the backtrace, where it crashes

I'm not really sure if this is a grave bug... we'll leave it like this for
now.
I guess this is result of filesystem translation not working properly
Forgotten bug... Does this still apply?
