Hi Daniel,

I know this issue and I'm currently working on a new package that will be
uploaded in unstable.
Unfortunately it needs to re-pass the NEW check while the package
structure is different.

If you want to test kexi new packages you can download them at

Cheers.

Bug#302684: zeroconf configuration method / option?

Oh, you're thinking of the Debian configuration done by the package - I
was thinking about the program itself.

That is it a bug if an an IPv4 link local address appears on the eth0
interface. If there were also a line like:

 iface eth0 inet static

*then* an IPv4 link local address should be assigned.

Yes - there is an argument for supplying a link local address anyway (by
analogy with IPv6) but it's very dodgy.

interfaces it can (IPv6 address assignment is rather different to IPv4
so this is can sensibly be done by the kernel - there's no policy in
having an ethernet link local address, for example).

Actually the defense mechanism isn't so different -- just the allocation
method. I've been thinking about factoring the link-local defense state
machine out of the IPv6 layer in the kernel and then using it for any
 addresses marked as IPv4 link-local.

Does it actually use the defense mechanisms for link local addresses
allocated on the basis of hardware address (which was the set I was
thinking of as most different - as you say the zeroconf algorithm owes
something to the way autoconfigured routeable addresses are assigned)?
Not that it really matters for this.

Bug#291386: creates initrd that cannot use lvm2 volumes if both lvm2 and lvm10 are installed

 Hi Eric,

I've tried to pin down this bug, but I find that the current version of
initrd-tools builds correct (matching) initrds whether or not the lvm10
package is installed. Is it possible that the broken initrd was built with
an old version of initrd-tools, or was somehow built on a system that did
not have lvm2 installed? Can you still recreate this broken initrd problem
if you install lvm10 on the system? What version of initrd-tools do you
 currently have installed?

 Thanks,
 --

Hi,

It does occur all the same for me with initrd-tools 0.1.77...

Do you have the root filesystem on lvm2 ?

I attach the output of diff -rub /mnt/initrd1 /mnt/initrd2,
with on /mnt/initrd1 a mount of the initrd without lvm10,
and on /mnt/initrd2 a mount of the initrd with lvm10

I also verified that the initrd with lvm10 still does not boot my box
properly...

Bug#300541: muine: Puhulease fix this bug :)

2005-04-07 Thread Daniel Carbonell Fraj
It seems there is a fix for something like this in a patch from gentoo,
to fix the gstreamer breakage. Can you try out the
 muine_0.6.3-8_i386.deb at http://download.dajobe.org/debian/unstable/
and if it's good, I'll put it in the archive.

It works for me :D You rock man !! :D

Oddly, it doesn't seem to want to reproduce my LOTR oggs, ripped with
Sound Juicer, like all my other CDs. When I hit Play, it just stands at
00:00 and doesn't do anything else. It's weird, but I still have to look
further into it.

Again, thank you! You made my day :D

Bug#302684: zeroconf configuration method / option?

On Thu, Apr 07, 2005 at 01:55:51PM +1000, Anand Kumria wrote:

[Disabling zeroconf when an address is allocated otherwise.]
Actually I read it entirely the other way -- the RFC recommends
*against* doing it the way that has been done on these platforms.

The behaviour it's complaining about is the way that most (if not all,
can't remember) existing implementations will immediately deconfigure
the link local address if they get another address, ignoring the
disruption this causes to existing network use.

Section 1.9 says:

| For these reasons, a host SHOULD NOT have both an operable routable
| address and an IPv4 Link-Local address configured on the same interface.

and then goes goes on to discuss procedures for phasing out the link
local address, including a MUST requirement to stop advertising it.
Failing over the other way (from asigned to link local) is optional
behaviour, though.

I can't even find any mention of libio-all-perl in the NEW queue.

Was rejected due to silly mistake with description; now that I have ADSL
back I will reupload ASAP.

After typing a few characters into the location/google bar Firefox freezes.
Forgot to mention that I use the SwitchProxy extension.
~/.firefox/plugins contains: flashplayer.xpt, libflashplayer.so
Removed XUL.mfasl once between restarts of Firefox.
I didn't get to make my window manager unusable again.

Hi,

/etc/hotplug/firmware.agent mentions /usr/local/lib/firmware but that
directory is not created by the package. As per the Debian policy
manual 9.1.2 it is okay for packages to create empty directories under
/usr/local

Please consider creating the /usr/local/lib/firmware directory.

Thanks,
Anand

At least the following files are included in at least two
packages (there may be others, only the first one found is reported):
 usr/share/info/send-pr.info.gz

You may want to add conflicts to one or more of the packages or
take other actions to allow the parallel installation of the packages.

Please clone and reassign this report as needed to properly track the issue

freebsd-sendpr already conflicts with gnats and gnats-user. I wouldn't mind
adding arla to the list, but I think it's better to use Provides here.

How about providing and conflicting with send-pr in both packages?

Hi Paul,

dpkg-reconfigure wwwoffle

reproducibly asks me the use-ppp-interfaces question with the default
set to ppp, although my /etc/wwwoffle/wwwoffle.options is:

# /etc/wwwoffle/wwwoffle.options
#
# See wwwoffle.options(5) for an explanation of the available options.
#fetch
#ppp

I don't understand it, but that's how it is.

The second problem is that wwwoffle reproducibly replaces my
wwwoffle.conf which is a symlink with a real file upon
dpkg-reconfigure or upgrade. I think it should act on the file the
symlink points to.

Regards, Frank

Isn't that precisely what should happen? Under the majority of
circumstances, maintainer scripts should not fail. But it seems to me
that running out of disk space warrents stopping the install and
letting the admin fix the problem. Indeed, that is precisely what I'd
want. You said breaks the whole system. What broke?

Bug#302378: samba: smbd exits with SIGABRT

2005-04-07 Thread Rasmus Bøg Hansen
Hi again

Valgrind is not in woody, so I installed it from backports, and made
the following trace:

valgrind -v -- smbd -i /tmp/valgrind.log 21

Output is here:

http://www.amagerkollegiet.dk/~moffe/valgrind.log

Hopefully this is better...

Bug#302378: samba: smbd exits with SIGABRT

Sorry, that doesn't help. We will probably need --num-callers=32, and
we need to show it crashing, not just running and exiting once (which is
what -i does).

Internally, Samba has been modified to assist in this, so if you run
with the valgrind --trace-children option, but not smbd's -i, the
valgrind errors will end up in the normal Samba logfiles (we redirect
stderr).

Thanks,

Andrew Bartlett

kernel-patch-device-mapper is no longer present in stable, unstable or

sources (I gather). However, kernel-patch-evms depends on it.
Probably the dependency needs to go.

Bug#302921: Confirmed that kuser now works (4.3-pre2)

2005-04-07 Thread Aaron Johnson
Sorry I haven't replied quicker. I work on computers in my spare time (of
which I have very little). Thank you guys so much for such a quick fix. I
downloaded the updated kdeadmin and tested kuser, which works perfectly!
Again, thank you Debian, KDE, and FOSS. The computer that I finished setting
up is destined for a men's recovery home, so the work that you guys do will
make some people very happy.

Bug#291386: creates initrd that cannot use lvm2 volumes if both lvm2 and lvm10 are installed

I've tried to pin down this bug, but I find that the current version of

an old version of initrd-tools, or was somehow built on a system that did
not have lvm2 installed? Can you still recreate this broken initrd problem
if you install lvm10 on the system? What version of initrd-tools do you
  currently have installed?

It does occur all the same for me with initrd-tools 0.1.77...

Hmm.

Do you have the root filesystem on lvm2 ?

Yes, of course; there's no reason to expect any lvm support in the initrd
otherwise.

I attach the output of diff -rub /mnt/initrd1 /mnt/initrd2,
with on /mnt/initrd1 a mount of the initrd without lvm10,
and on /mnt/initrd2 a mount of the initrd with lvm10

I also verified that the initrd with lvm10 still does not boot my box
 properly...

Ok, got it -- this is only a problem with 2.4 kernels, where lvm-mod.o is
available, and did not happen when testing against a 2.6 kernel.

Now to figure out how to fix the check, so that it can distinguish between a
volume that requires lvm2 and one that works with lvm1.

Thanks,

This is actually a bug in gconf. There is a simple workaround
described in /usr/share/doc/gnucash/README.Debian.
