Bug#749795: holes in secure apt
On Mon, Jun 16, 2014 at 12:04:51PM +0200, Thorsten Glaser wrote: On Thu, 12 Jun 2014, David Kalnischkies wrote: For your attack to be (always) successful, you need a full-sources mirror on which you modify all tarballs, so that you can build a valid Sources file. You can't just build your attack tarball on demand as the Erm, no? You can just cache a working Sources file and exchange the paragraph you are interested in. That’s something that would be easy in a CGI written in shell, *and* perform well. Trivial. The always refers to the small problem that a MITM isn't in control of what source package is acquired by the user later on. Modifying the Source file is of course trivial, the hard part is making the modification count given that at the time the request for the Sources file is made you have no idea what (if any) source package the user will request in 10 seconds/days following this 'apt-get update' (or equivalent) – if the user isn't on to you given that you have thrown away the signatures for binary packages, too, so that he can't even get his build-dependencies without saying yes to a (default: no) warning. From a theoretical standpoint, this is of course all negligible, but in practice it's so annoying/fragile that way better alternatives exist. (Me messing up InRelease parsing [twice] for example with ironically far less coverage - its all about catchy titles I guess) Best regards David Kalnischkies signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Bug#750283: xacobeo: FTBFS: Tests failures
Hi, Damyan Ivanov wrote: Xlib: extension RANDR missing on display :99. t/Xacobeo-XS.t .. ok # Failed test 'Reading SVG text elements' # at t/document.t line 152. # Structures begin differing at: # $got-[0] = 'svg version=1.0 xml' # $expected-[0] = 'svg version=1.0 xml' # Looks like you failed 1 test of 53. Hm. Works fine for me. Someone with any ideas around? I am able to reproduce this 100% of the tries, as long as the build environment (pbuilder chroot) has network access. The symptoms are that t/document.t seems to hang for some 30 seconds, and then fails. If I reject outgoing network connections via iptables, the test passes instantly. Interestingly I cannot reproduce this issue if I don't use pbuilder despite network is available. I just built it on some box via SSH without pbuilder, only with debuild. But if I use pbuilder on the very same box and the very same SSH session, it fails. Debian build network runs with no network access, but I am wondering what the failing test tells us about the usability of the package when network is accessible. So I suspect that some additional build-dependency will help to circumvent the problem. One idea I had, was that it tries to download some DTD or such via https and the test failures depend on which SSL module is used or if ca-certificates is installed or not. But then again fgrep https -r found no https URLs except under debian/ (control and copyright). Which means that I currently have no idea which package could be the missing build-dependency. :-/ Regards, Axel -- ,''`. | Axel Beckert a...@debian.org, http://people.debian.org/~abe/ : :' : | Debian Developer, ftp.ch.debian.org Admin `. `' | 1024D: F067 EA27 26B9 C3FC 1486 202E C09E 1D89 9593 0EDE `-| 4096R: 2517 B724 C5F6 CA99 5329 6E61 2FF9 CD59 6126 16B5 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#751878: FTBFS from source on i386 but successfully built in the past
Control: tag -1 patch Michael Biebl bi...@debian.org (2014-06-17): Source: sqlite3 Version: 3.8.5-1 Severity: serious The current version of sqlite3 FTBFS on i386. See https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=sqlite3suite=sid tcl8.6 ships under /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/tcl8.6, rather than /usr/lib/i486-linux-gnu/tcl8.6; switching the --with-tcl path from DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE to DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH makes the package build on i386. I'm not sure about the other settings; especially: passing --build and --host unconditionally was discouraged at some point because that enabled cross-compilation mode even when that wasn't needed. Anyway, the patch I used: - --with-tcl=/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE)/tcl8.6 + --with-tcl=/usr/lib/$(DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH)/tcl8.6 (Only build-tested on i386.) Bug#750338: pyshared for python2 has gone away
It looks to me like https://bugs.debian.org/750338 is caused by the fact that there is only one version of python2 in debian sid. i plan to change the trac packaging to just use /usr/share/python2.7 for debian. (i understand that upstream has announced that there will never be a python2.8, so we won't need to reintroduce pyshared until trac moves to python3). --dkg signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#751888: glusterfs-server: creating symlinks generates errors
Package: glusterfs-server Version: 3.5.0-1 Severity: grave Justification: causes non-serious data loss Dear Maintainer, after upgrading to version 3.5.0-1 and rebooting the systems, I found out that creating symlinks on a glusterfs partition generates errors. I have glusterfs partitions (type: stripe, connection: IP over InfiniBand) built with bricks on host1, host2, host3, ... and mounted on master, host1, host2, host3, ... For instance: Volume Name: scratch1-8 Type: Stripe Volume ID: 85c89403-0fc5-43cf-8fde-a8fa2322e6e6 Status: Started Number of Bricks: 1 x 8 = 8 Transport-type: tcp Bricks: Brick1: host1:/data/brick1 Brick2: host2:/data/brick1 Brick3: host3:/data/brick1 Brick4: host4:/data/brick1 Brick5: host5:/data/brick1 Brick6: host6:/data/brick1 Brick7: host7:/data/brick1 Brick8: host8:/data/brick1 If I create a symlink inside one glusterfs partition from master like this: $ cd /storage/scratch1-8/directory $ touch foo $ ln -s foo my_link then, my_link may be correctly followed with some commands (such as cat, readlink, ...), but generates errors with other commands (such as ls -l, cp -a, ...). An especially troublesome consequence is that if I $ cp -a /storage/scratch1-8/directory ~/tmp/ the directory and file `foo' are copied, but not `my_link'. This causes non-serious data loss, as soon as the original directory is discarded. Downgrading to version 3.4.2-1 and rebooting the systems makes the issue vanish. Please investigate this bug. Bug#751563: tuxguitar: depends on xulrunner which is no more
On Mon, 16 Jun 2014 22:17:05 -0700, tony mancill wrote: Thanks for digging into this. I suggest we move forward with pulling out the MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME mechanism and do some testing. I can work on that. Sounds good, thank you! Okay, so it's no worse with all of the xulrunner stuff pulled out, No surprise, since it's most probably not used, if I'm reading the script correctly :) so there's no problem with going ahead with a simplified wrapper script and removing that dependency. Perfect, thanks for testing. I guess I can go ahead with another upload. I spent some time looking at #745127, but wasn't able to make any real progress. It's a shame, because it's quite annoying. Have you tried with the i386 version of chromium? It could be that it only affects i386 and not amd64. Quite possible, I can definitely reproduce it on i386. OK, I am bumping the severity again to prevent migration to testing for now. Too late! It has already propagated to testing. Are you maybe using some libpolkit* package from experimental? In experimental the path changed from /usr/lib/policykit-1 to /usr/lib/polkit-1. Bug#751912: opendnssec: FTBFS on architectures where mariadb-client is not available
package: opendnssec severity: serious version: 1:1.4.5-2 Hi, Since version 1:1.4.5-2, opendnssec build-depends on mariadb-client | mysql-client As the buildds only look at the first alternative dependency, this means the build-deps can't be satisfied on architectures where mariadb-client doesn't exist (kfreebsd, s390x and sparc). https://buildd.debian.org/status/logs.php?pkg=opendnssecver=1%3A1.4.5-2 It's probably best to change this to mysql-client | mariadb-client This should be satisfiable everywhere. See https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=sqlite3suite=sid I'm aware of it and investigated already. It failed to build on all x86 architectures. tcl8.6 ships under /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/tcl8.6, rather than /usr/lib/i486-linux-gnu/tcl8.6; switching the --with-tcl path from DEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE to DEB_HOST_MULTIARCH makes the package build on i386. I'm not sure about the other settings; especially: passing --build and --host unconditionally was discouraged at some point because that enabled cross-compilation mode even when that wasn't needed. Yup, got the same here, just not uploaded. Now re-tested and will do it soon. Anyway, tclConfig.sh is available from /usr/lib/tcl8.6/ as well with the same trick above. The severity of this report may be raised before the jessie release. The full build log can be found at: http://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/failed-gcc49/qtmultimedia-opensource-src_5.2.1-3_unstable_gcc49.log The last lines of the build log are at the end of this report. To build with GCC 4.9, either set CC=gcc-4.9 CXX=g++-4.9 explicitly, or install the gcc, g++, gfortran, ... packages from experimental. apt-get -t experimental install g++ Common build failures are new warnings resulting in build failures with -Werror turned on, or new/dropped symbols in Debian symbols files.
