Bug#542141: gnumeric: searchreplace broken (can't find glade file)

Bug#541350: amsn: can't connect
Hi Muammar, sorry for not replying first. On Thu, Aug 13, 2009 at 19:53, Muammar El Khatibmuammarelkha...@gmail.com wrote: Hi Sandro, On Thu, Aug 13, 2009 at 11:31 AM, Sandro Tosimo...@debian.org wrote: Package: amsn Version: 0.98~svn11402-1 Severity: grave Hello, latest version of amsn can't connect to the network, and only it shows is a window with internal server error. I have researched and that kind of problem is referred to the MSN protocol. It seems that the protocol shipped in this SVN version is not working for the servers you are trying to connect to. As you can I don't think I've changed teh servers, so I'm going with the defaults (?) see I have attached a picture in which I am connected with amsn svn 0.98~svn11402-1. It is important to add that I have tested it either in i386 and amd64. So far, your bug report is the first I get for this version related to that problem. I found something¹ that you could try: You can change the protocol by pressing Ctrl+Alt+C to activate the aMSN console and then typing: config::setKey protocol 11 Let me know if that fix this issue. No, it doesn't :( If not, I will package the new SVN version and maybe you can try it to see if problem still. Sure! Downgrading amsn and amsn-data to 0.97.2~debian-3 makes it work again (all the other libraries are at the same version). This makes stronger the assumption of a protocol - related problem. I am sorry for the inconvenient and thanks for reporting this. No problem. It runs on Debian GNU/Linux, *BSD, MacOSX, and Solaris, and may be easily adapted to other Unix operating systems. runit implements a simple three-stage concept. Stage 1 performs the system's one-time initialization tasks. Stage 2 starts the system's uptime services (via the runsvdir program). Bug#540751: version script commands not handled correctly in sid/squeeze
severity 540751 normal tag 540751 + wontfix thanks the proposed solution is to avoid the two global wildcard matches. upstream comment: The linker script shown has two global wildcard matches. As the ld info doc says, this is slightly crazy. They both match test_new, so which one should ld choose? The most specific match? How do you do that in general? eg. is tes* a better match than *new for test_new? (If we make a special case for *, why stop there?) From section 3.9, ld info manual: When the linker finds a symbol defined in a library which is not specifically bound to a version node, it will effectively bind it to an unspecified base version of the library. You can bind all otherwise unspecified symbols to a given version node by using `global: *;' somewhere in the version script. Note that it's slightly crazy to use wildcards in a global spec except on the last version node. Global wildcards elsewhere run the risk of accidentally adding symbols to the set exported for an old version. That's wrong since older versions ought to have a fixed set of symbols. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Bug#477060: news concerning the amslatex license
Benedikt Ahrens benedikt.ahr...@gmx.net wrote: Hello, I recently sent a message to the AMS in order to get updated news about the relicensing issue. Perhaps you are interested in their answer. Many thanks for taking this up! The good news is that as we release new versions of our packages, we have been updating the license to the following: % Unlimited copying and redistribution of this file are permitted as % long as this file is not modified. Modifications, and distribution % of modified versions, are permitted, but only if the resulting file % is renamed. Personally, I don't like the wording file is renamed, because it is ambiguous - in particular in a kpathsea-based TeX system where the path is crucial for finding a file, and where an aliases file is supported. But I think Debian can accept this. 2) The core AMS document classes (amsart.cls, amsbook.cls, and amsproc.cls) -- there was a minor maintenance release last month. Fine. Some of the related files may still have the old license. That probably means they didn't manage to contact all involved persons? Well, Debian will probably be able to accept this for a while. 3) AMSrefs The bad news is that we still have not had occasion to update the core amsmath package and related files. We hope to release an upgrade of amsmath at the end of this year or early next year, but I'm not in a position to make any hard promises. So that means that again it won't be in TL 2009. If they manage to release in time for Debian squeeze, I'll try to update this stuff independently of TL upsstream. Otherwise, well, it's a hard question if we can include those file in stable with a non-free license *again*. What we could do, if it would help, is add a 00LICENSE file to the current distribution that contains the new license, an explanation of the situation, and a statement that this supersedes the one in the individual files. I suspect that strictly speaking this is legally dicey, but it would certainly make our intentions clear. I think Debian has usually accepted such statements, even as the final action. Not if they say we intend to contact all copyright holders, but if the say we have confirmed with all copyright holders (explicitly or implicitly). Given your B-D on it is versioned, and that versioned Provides aren't supported, your package no longer builds, and can't even be tried, it stays in the BD-Uninstallable state with the following reason: | jabberd14 (= 1.6.1.1-2) build-depends on libmysqlclient15-dev (= 5.0.32) {NOT AVAILABLE} Build-Depending on the (new) real package should fix this (and you probably wouldn't need a versioned B-D given this real package appeared in a version way higher than the one you used to require). Bug#542218: backuppc: Security hole when using rsync and multiple users
Package: backuppc Version: 3.1.0-4 Severity: critical Tags: security Justification: root security hole When using an SSH key and Rsync with BackupPC on a system with multiple users, Users (as opposed to admins) have the ability to change the ClientNameAlias on machines they are listed as owning. As BackupPC user has one ssh key, which can be in the authorized keys of many machines (often as root), this allows a user to backup from and restore to any machines that key gives access to, by changing the ClientNameAlias to the target machine and initiating a backup. I've just tested this, and as an unpriviledged user was able to change backing up /scratch on my desktop to /etc on a server and then read /etc/shadow from the server. Whilst I haven't tested this, I see no reason I couldn't restore to the server as well, thus changing arbitrary files as root (and gaining root access). -- System Information: Debian Release: 5.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages backuppc depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii apache2 2.2.9-10+lenny2 Apache HTTP Server metapackage ii apache2-mpm-worker [http 2.2.9-10+lenny2 Apache HTTP Server - high speed th ii bzip21.0.5-1 high-quality block-sorting file co ii debconf [debconf-2.0]1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii dpkg 1.14.25 Debian package management system ii libarchive-zip-perl 1.18-1 Module for manipulation of ZIP arc ii libcompress-zlib-perl2.012-1 Perl module for creation and manip ii perl [libdigest-md5-perl 5.10.0-19 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii perl-suid5.10.0-19 Runs setuid Perl scripts ii samba-common 2:3.2.5-4lenny2 Samba common files used by both th ii smbclient2:3.2.5-4lenny2 a LanManager-like simple client fo ii tar 1.20-1 GNU version of the tar archiving u Versions of packages backuppc recommends: ii libfile-rsyncp-perl 0.68-1.1+b1 A perl based implementation of an ii openssh-client [ssh-client] 1:5.1p1-5 secure shell client, an rlogin/rsh ii postfix [mail-transport-agen 2.5.5-1.1 High-performance mail transport ag ii rrdtool 1.3.1-4 Time-series data storage and displ ii rsync3.0.3-2 fast remote file copy program (lik Versions of packages backuppc suggests: pn par2 none (no description available) ii w3m [www-browser] 0.5.2-2+b1 WWW browsable pager with excellent -- debconf information excluded -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Package: emacs Version: 23.1+1-2 Severity: normal I updated my installation yesterday. I've had the emacs and emacs22 packages installed. Bug#542140: [Pkg-fglrx-devel] Bug#542140: fglrx-driver: fglrx driver doesn't work with linux-image-2.6.30 (AMD64)
Patrick Matthäi wrote: Gary Dale schrieb: Package: fglrx-driver Version: 1:9-2-2 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable After doing a dist-upgrade a couple of days ago in which linux-image-2.6.30 was installed, the fglrx driver stopped working. I could no longer get into X. Removing and reinstalling the driver under the kernel didn't help. Because the open source ATI drivers don't work, I'm left with the vesa driver as the only method for running X. I've also tried the installation method at http://www.debianadmin.com/how-to-install-ati-fglrx-driver-in-debian.html/comment-page-1#comment-3543 but it fails during the driver install while trying to overwrite libglx.so - and no amount of trying has let me get around the error. Even if libglx.so is removed, I still can't overwrite it! ?? We are _not_ supporting the debs resulted by the ati installer! On Debian just do (but be sure to remove everything from your old installation): # apt-get install fglrx-driver fglrx-glx fglrx-source module-assisstant # m-a a-i fglrx And that was it. Bug#527449: swftools: multiple vulnerabilities in embedded copy of xpdf
On Tue, Aug 18, 2009 at 12:19:12PM +0200, Clement Hermann (nodens) wrote: Hi, Hi, Is there any news on this bug ? would you accept a patch to use libpoppler instead of embedded xpdf ? Nothing new; the 0.9.0 release of swftools still uses the xpdf 3.02 embedded in it and the last time I asked, the upstream had no plans to start using libpoppler instead. I thought that converting the upstream version to use libpoppler instead of the embedded library would be too big a task to maintain. Now it seems that new upstream releases don't happen that often, so the patched version could be maintainable. Obviously, I would be glad to get a patch for that. Bug#539752: emacs installs, but installs emacs23-nox
reassign 539752 aptitude 0.4.11.11-1 thanks On 2009-08-18 16:11 +0200, Ross Vandegrift wrote: Package: emacs Version: 23.1+1-2 Severity: normal I updated my installation yesterday. I've had the emacs and emacs22 packages installed. But AFAICS this is not a bug in emacs which depends on emacs23 | emacs23-gtk | emacs23-nox. This breaks my emacs in X, which isn't tragic (I can workaround it), but is quite confusing! I've added this to this bug report since it seems likely that this is related to dependencies that aren't installable, though my system had no problem installing emacs23-common. It's probably not that the dependencies aren't installable (try aptitude install emacs23 to find out -- it would have worked for me), but rather that aptitude chose a solution that does not involve installing additional packages (the emacs23 package has more dependencies than emacs22). BTW, how did you upgrade? I did with aptitude safe-upgrade, it is possible that aptitude full-upgrade or aptitude install emacs would have had a different outcome. A final tip for you: install emacs23-gtk instead of emacs23, GTK+ is the preferred toolkit by upstream (see #539800). Package: tulip Version: 3.1.2-2 Severity: normal Tags: patch User: ubuntu-de...@lists.ubuntu.com Usertags: origin-ubuntu karmic ubuntu-patch Hi, I've written the attached patch to remove the depenency. It switches the dependency to ttf-dejavu, and changes the symlinks to point to its fonts instead. There's a bonus couple of fixes here as well. The build repeatedly tries to call epstopdf, so I added a Build-Depends on texlive-extra-utils. It also downloads from the web when trying to access xsl, so I added a patch to use the catalog from docbook-xsl instead. Bug#542234: xmount: fopen64 implicitly converted to pointer
Package: xmount Version: 0.3.2-1 Severity: serious Usertags: implicit-pointer-conversion Our automated buildd log filter[1] detected a problem that is likely to cause your package to segfault on architectures where the size of a pointer is greater than the size of an integer, such as ia64 and amd64. Function `fopen64' implicitly converted to pointer at xmount.c:212 This is often due to a missing function prototype definition. For more information, see [2]. Though it is guaranteed that this codepath will cause a segfault on certain architectures, it is not guaranteed that this codepath would ever be executed (e.g., if the returned pointer is never dereferenced). However, this bug does prevent the ia64 buildd from successfully building this package, resulting in a practical FTBFS issue and warranting the serious severity. This package probably needs to add -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE to CFLAGS. Bug#533994: Working on it ...
Hi all! This build failure only happens when the arch-indep package is built. This is because dh_install for the arch-indep update-manager package is called before setup.py install so the to-be-installed files are not yet in debian/tmp. I might be able to create a patch to get it working again. btw. this package is quite akward to work with as it fails to build early after a failed built atempt + debian/rules clean. Bug#539728: postgresql-contrib-8.4: pgbench connection failure
Hi! * janning vy...@kicktipp.de [2009-08-03 11:50:04 CEST]: Package: postgresql-contrib-8.4 Version: 8.4.0-1~bpo50+1 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable installed from backports, reproducable like this: Please be notified that the canonical way to report bugs about packages from backports is the backports-us...@lists.backports.org mailinglist. The Debian BTS unfortunately doesn't know anything about backports. $ jann...@buckelwal:~$ createdb pgbench jann...@buckelwal:~$ psql -h localhost pgbench psql (8.4.0) Type help for help. pgbench=# \d No relations found. jann...@buckelwal:~$ /usr/lib/postgresql/8.4/bin/pgbench -h localhost -i pgbench Connection to database pgbench failed: could not connect to server: Connection refused Is the server running on host localhost and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 5432? I was unable to reproduce this in squeeze (on powerpc) with the default 8.4.0-2 package from there so this seems to be a limited issue. Though, I was neither able to reproduce it on a lenny system (on i386 in vmware) with the 8.4.0-2~bpo50+1 packages from lenny-backports. It might either be amd64 specific (and maybe affecting squeeze too?) or it might be fixed with 8.4.0-2~bpo50+1. Can you at least try the upgrade to 8.4.0-2~bpo50+1 to see if that might be related? Please make sure that you upgrade all related packages, the server and the contrib package likewise with libpq5. Thanks! Rhonda P.S.: I guess Martin doesn't mind keeping the bug in here - the BTS doesn't know anyway where to pin the version to so it doesn't affect the main Debian archive packages. :) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-rc-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. I've noticed that while reassigning #538718 from his package to ftp.debian.org Why is gmyth going away?
