So, in my opinion you can just activate the hppa command options for xorriso.
In my todo list is still:
- I think there still seems to be a problem with gzipped Linux kernels.

xorriso-1.3.5 or enable it by macro in 1.3.6 and 1.3.7.
Withholding the API and CLI is much better than releasing them in
incomplete state, and having to create new ones after testing.
We would need to prod debian-cd for upgrading xorriso, anyway.

My testing at the time *did* work IIRC. Maybe I missed something,
though.
worked with xorriso 1.2.9 though.
2. When building i386 images debian-cd ignored DISKTYPE and put
everything it could find into the image all 40+GiB. I had not tried
1.2.2 the build stops at 650k.
