Re: Urgent: Clound images for Stretch announcement

2017-07-07 Thread Cédric Boutillier
Hi,

The current paragraph for Google Compute Engine paragraph mainly points
to the wiki page https://wiki.debian.org/Cloud/GoogleComputeEngineImage

If this source is mainly used to point readers of the blog post to some
information, I think that some content should be added/edited for people
who would be new to this platform.

For example, there are several commands using the gcloud tool. I
understand that `gcloud` is a tool which is available when you install
the Google Cloud SDK (I first tried to see if there was a Debian package
providing it).

Another example is the paragraph about working with future images. Now
that Debian stretch images are available, the "(like Debian Stretch
atm)" may possibly be removed?

Can someone familiar with these GCE images do these small edits?

Thanks!

Cédric

Sounds good to me. I will have images built for AWS pretty much as soon
as "stable" points to stretch on the mirrors. The details will be
documented at https://wiki.debian.org/Cloud/AmazonEC2Image/Stretch as
with the previously released "beta" stretch images.

Fair enough. User experience should be about the same either way.
Details to be worked out are pretty much entirely internal, in terms of
various image generation workflows and where they run.

I believe most of the details you're looking for are covered on the
https://wiki.debian.org/Cloud/AmazonEC2Image/Stretch, except for support
and documentation details. In general support is via
debian-cloud@lists.d.o, #debian-cloud, or the cloud.debian.org bts
pseudopackage. Documentation is wiki.debian.org, though there's not a
lot to speak of.

Hi Ana

I added some info about Vagrant Debian Images on the pad, which are not
technically cloud images as you run them locally, but who have similar
build process and problematics.

For Azure we should be able to publish a release image on sunday. It
can be used if you have the internal reference
("credativ:Debian:9:latest"). It should show up in the marketplace and
all the end-user accessed web interfaces on tuesday, as there is a
manual process involved.

What do you want to add? Availability? Access information?

Urgent: Clound images for Stretch announcement

2017-06-13 Thread Ana Guerrero Lopez

Hi,

In the current Debian Stretch announcement (still open for editing),
we mention only the OpenStack images. I was wondering about the availability
of other official images: GCE, AWS, Azure?

Please, see the current announcement at
https://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/publicity/announcements.git/tree/en/drafts/stretch-release.wml
line 161. I would like to add the other images and move it all to their
own paragrpah.

Ana
