As quatro listas atendem aspectos diferentes e tem audiências diferentes dentro do projeto. Uma das propostas originais de 2005[1] tratava mais da lista de tradução exatamente para permitir a cooperação entre os dois idiomas. 1. https://lists.debian.org/debian-i18n/2005/10/msg00077.html Acho a padronização uma ótima ideia, ainda que o problema de dois times diferentes estarem na mesma lista não exista, há o aspecto positivo de criar um espaço completo em todas as categorias de lista pra comunidade europeia de falantes do português. Eventualmente no futuro teríamos que pensar o que aconteceria para outros falantes do português (que não sejam Brasil ou Portugal), mas se nesses mais de 10 anos, esse tópico nunca foi levantado, podemos tratar dele quando a hora chegar. :-) Abaixo há comentários sobre as opções oferecidas e uma evolução da proposta que preserva o histórico e permite uma transição mais suave, ainda que mais longa. Se ao invés de usar a ideia de renomear as listas existentes e criar novas listas com nomes diferentes, adotarmos a ideia de manter as listas existentes e criar novos espaços para os brasileiros, poderíamos tentar fazer uma avaliação de cada listas: devel: mais relacionado a aspectos de desenvolvimento, a mudança seria razoavelmente simples, a -devel-portuguese continua existindo, não é preciso migrar, nós podemos fazer anúncios e promover a nova lista e à medida que membros mais ativos façam referência e enviam mensagens somente na lista nova, a mudança ocorrerá naturalmente. Novamente não há perda de histórico e links e a ação de se inscrever na nova lista é voluntária e para aqueles que estão interessados em acompanhar o desenvolvimento mais ligado ao Debian no Brasil. l10n: uma das listas mais usadas pra trabalho e coordenação de voluntários, similar a devel, há muito histórico existente e há ferramentas que usam os cabeçalhos de PO para apontar para as listas. Aqui a perda dos arquivos e do histórico seria grande. Como a lista envolve quem está trabalhando ativamente, a mudança seria similar a devel, com anúncio, o processo de educação seria ativo para redirecionar o trabalho, mas manteria o espaço para o time de tradução europeu. Provavelmente em uma ou duas versões do Debian a migração estaria completa. news: há histórico de links e referências pra essa lista, mas não há discussão, criar uma nova lista news-brazilian seria simples e sem interrupção, podemos fazer um anúncio que a nova lista foi criada e as pessoas podem migrar ou se manter cadastradas nas duas. Essa é uma das mais fáceis e simples. user: essa lista é mais ativa e é um dos principais pontos de contato com a comunidade que não necessariamente está trabalhando em alguma área do Debian. Novamente há muito histórico e mensagens que fazem referência a outras mensagens. O fato de não terem feito o que você esperava levou ao registro do domínio e você não gostou dos itens ligados aos aspectos legais do processo e à própria surpresa em não ter buscado outras formas com os domínios já existentes. O ideal era que o domínio estivesse sob a guarda do CIPSGA ou da ASL.org e seguisse a linha dos demais domínios que temos/mantemos em termos de como se comporta e políticas de uso de email. Que tal uma reunião no canal #debian-devel-br da oftc? Que tal amanhã, as 22:00? Outra opção de horário seria Sábado, as 15h. Com baixa referência? Sem as listas? Sem pauta? Podíamos começar tendo redundância na manutenção desse canal, mais pessoas responsáveis por ele, com acesso a gerência de permissões e mudança de tópico (e ter mais pessoas no próprio canal). Se nenhum desses horários der certo para a maioria dos representantes dos guds regionais, podem propor outros. :) Vários GUDs não tem modelo de representação e vários não assinam essa lista. A melhor forma é organicamente pelas listas e outros canais. E não vejo como uma reunião no IRC nos ajudaria a organizar algo melhor do que a lista, especialmente com pessoas em diferentes fusos e diferentes ciclos de trabalho. Tirando isso, eu disse que a debian-br seria o começo das ações e que no momento apropriado iríamos para uma lista sobre a DebConf no Brasil. O curioso é que você não sabia da existência da debian-br, você nunca havia participado e em pouquíssimo tempo você conseguiu causar um conjunto relativamente grande de estragos. O que você provavelmente precisa fazer é remover o antigo pacote compilado manualmente, atualizar para o 2.6.32 e usar o módulo que vem no pacote oficial. Depois eu saía da tela do kernel que estava em cima de root(0,0) e apertava b para iniciar o sistema. Desta forma o Debian iniciava sem mensagem de erro e interrupção. Para solucionar esse problema de iniciar o Linux em notebooks, tive que configurar o /menu.lst/ encontrado em //boot/grub/menu.lst/. Utilizei o kedit como editor de texto. O notebook da Acer aceitou todos os Linux que instalei, iniciando assim o boot automaticamente. Quero deixar bem claro que essa dica é um alerta para quem deseja colocar Linux em notebooks da Intelbras ou HP. Eu comprei um notebook da Intelbras e o Ubuntu não aceita resolução de 1024x768 e efeito da área de trabalho por causa da placa de vídeo compartilhada da SiS (Silicon Integrated System). Vocês podem fazer um kernel que aceite o SiS(Silicon Integrated System)? Drivers de vídeo são relacionados ao X.Org e não ao kernel. De qualquer forma, o driver VESA provavelmente oferece suporte a essa resolução (1024x768). Well, Debian has a lot of users that don't know English, in this sense, some sections do not mean anything to them. Eu penso que o SoftwareLivre.org o mesmo local do twiki da comunidade inkscape, pode ceder uma nova TwikiWeb (Web) para Comunidade DebianBrasil, somente precisando depois de pronto redirecionar os dominios para lá... Sou contra a migração pro Twiki. Preferencialmente deveríamos usar o mesmo wiki que o Debian, na verdade, há algum tempo isso está configurado: http://wiki.debianbrasil.org O projeto era migrar todas as minhas anotações pessoais para o wiki para facilitar as tarefas dos tradutores. Besides m68k, snapshot.debian.net maybe also have some use for these disks (but AFAIK the server is in Japan). O Time de Segurança já disse em algumas threads que os sistemas de patches (seja quilt ou dpatch) ajudam eles a fazer atualizações de segurança quando o mantenedor demora pra responder. Então o que eu quis dizer foi que eu aceitaria mudanças direto no código fonte, sem usar um sistema de gerenciamento de patches para que este upload entre no Etch; e que não usar um sistema de gerenciamento de patches é visto como uma má prática de manutenção de pacotes. O pacote quilt já não passou pelo período de congelamento necessário? Uma vez que ele vai para o próximo STABLE do Debian? Como você disse que preferia compilado eu não mandei o que
usamos no servidor da i18n, fazemos mirror dos sources pra todas
as suites (oldstable, stable, testing, sid), quase 30 GB, usando o
script indicado pelo Time de Mirrors: anonftpsync (tive que adicionar
exclusões a mais porque ele trazia muito mais do que o source). :-)

If we split timezones from libc, volatile looks like a very good approach to handle that updates, since we can have to update it a couple of times until the next release. I'm not sure but a timezone update does not fit in security update category (could be possible), but a package update throught a repository looks much more interesting than having a package pulling data files from people.d.o like tz-brasil does. In fact, if you consider offline situations and conditions without access to people.d.o or another site with the data files, having a pre-downloades package (like a CD with updates) is pretty handy and easier to administer. And Volatile Team takes very good care of packages that are in volatile, considering that, you can also have a normal, stable package that updates that data without need extra downloads. Just my two cents... :) Sometime ago, Adrian Bunk [1]raise the question about a kernel stable tree in LKML, after a lot of discussion (and AFAIK no good resolution), a lot of ideas travel on the list (also in the midle of flamewar), ideas like try to not break the entire userland and let the distro take care of having a stable kernel. 1. http://lkml.org/lkml/2005/12/3/55 Perhaps the idea of maintain a kernel with other distros is not bad, if Ubuntu shows up as a candidate, I would like to add Progeny, Linspire, Xandros, DCC Alliance Fan Club and also other Debian Derivatives. I really don't know if it is possible to mix RH, Debian, SuSE, Slackware and other distros to maintain the same kernel, but certainly should be possible to get all Debian (and Debian based/derivative) playing together. :-) If you give it a quick look (and a quick try), we will have more users testing the same kernel, which means more feedback, we will have more developers working to get it stable and working to get it secure. Sua sensação de retrocesso me parece ter sido causada por você não ter seguido o NMG desde o princípio. Como eu disse, você não precisa usar o dh_make, desde que seu diretório esteja correto, eu apontei a documentação para que você entendesse o processo de geração do diff a partir do orig. Não há problemas em renomear o tarball do upstream, mas é _muito_ recomendável que eles sejam idênticos (se possível até o mesmo MD5).
