Hi. NUUG and Skolelinux/Debian Edu plan to organise a joint
Debian/Ubuntu bug squashing party in Oslo in the near future. The
event will also be a Skolelinux / Debian Edu developer gathering.
We fixed the date this evening. It will be held Saturday July 13th at
Bitraf
I asked on #debian-devel for ideas how to fix killer, and Mithrandir
suggested I look at the xprintidle package, while weasel pointed me to
the attached script he use to suspend unused machines.
Both can provide inspiration for a fix for killer.

The maintainer reply we just got tell me that #648604 is not going to
get solved in Wheezy in time, so we need to come up with some other
solution. Backporting the newer lightdm and putting it in our
repository is one alternative. Adding consolekit support to killer

During a recent upgrade I noticed, that preseeding in defaults.common
might be wrong. The type is missing, so the result is rather strange:

I suspect we should set up some CGI script to generate this on the
fly, and use the summary in marketing.
I created a CGI and put it at

The source is not in any VCS so far, and the file
in gosa, other than user settings /
generic which says it has no valid extensions. I logged in as admin
using the root password. Nowhere to add users or machines.

I also found that sshfs was very slow compared to NFS, but it solve a
lot of access problems and might be worth it. Would be nice to know
how LTSP using sshfs handle load from several users.

it's not a build time thing. to phrase my idea differently: I think we
should always setup a i386 chroot unless we install from amd64-dvd
without network. If we have network, setup i386.
Right. Should be possible to add a test for that.
I think we should have a dual-arch
all ispell dictionaries now,
and only provide myspell dictionaries, because I believe the packages
we care (Iceweasel, Libreoffice, KDE, etc)q about is able to handle
myspell. The only package I know depending on ispell is emacs. :)

what about edu-wheezy release timings? I guess that most IT-admins
wait summer school vacation to upgrade systems...
I would love to release before the summer, but it do not look like that
at the moment.
Personally, I believe we need someone with PHP skills to fix the
module fail to run
/usr/share/debian-edu-config/tools/gosa-create for all the created
users. That should not be too hard to fix. Any volunteers?

Part of the reason was the slow moderation done by Enrico. That is
solved, I volunteered to help, and got access to moderate the tags too
now. All requested debtag updates are now processed, and the result
is in wheezy.

please welcome the introduction of two new architectures to our
wheezy suite: armel and armhf!
Yay!
Note that there is no installer, so tools/debian-edu-bless has to be
used.
I borrowed a Raspberry Pi myself, and will give it a go. :)

higher disk and memory usage (and possibly more space spent on the DVD,
but reducing the number of display managers might compensate).

Indeed this is a pam_mklocaluser problem. The package in Ubuntu is
broken (in several releases)
Is the version in svn working better? It is a fairly bit rewrite of
the source.
