Re: GDAL 2.1.2

2016-10-27 Thread Sebastiaan Couwenberg
Emilio of Release Team fame has been very awesome again and given the go
ahead for the gdal transition on the same days as its release (just like
GDAL 2.1.1).

Keep an eye on the transition tracker and/or bugreport for progress:

 https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/gdal-2.1.2.html

Once the buildds have finished building geos on all release
architectures, I'll also request a transition slot for that.

Kind Regards,

Bas

The second build of openscenegraph-3.4 (3.4.0+dfsg1-4) did not FTBFS, so
the GCC issue doesn't seem to be persistent. With the rebuilt
openscenegraph-3.4 the osgearth (2.8.0+dfsg-1~exp1) build succeeds as
expected.

GDAL 2.1.2

2016-10-15 Thread Sebastiaan Couwenberg
GDAL 2.1.2-RC1 is out, and that means a new gdal transition is coming.

The changes are minimal, only one C and some C++ symbols were introduced
and one C++ symbol removed.

mysql-workbench (6.3.4+dfsg-3) cannot be built because its build
dependencies are not installable. libgdal-dev now depends on
default-libmysqlclient-dev which conflicts with libmysqlclient-dev on
which mysql-workbench build depends (patch submitted in #840786).
Changing the build dependency to default-libmysqlclient-dev results in
the FTBFS issue reported in #839356. Fortunately mysql-workbench is no
longer in testing.

vtk6 (6.3.0+dfsg1-1) also cannot be built until its libmysqlclient-dev
(build) dependencies are changed to default-libmysqlclient-dev (patch
submitted in #840788). The build succeeded with that patch applied.

openscenegraph-3.4 (3.4.0+dfsg1-4) FTBFS due to an internal compiler
error. Bug report in #840834. And due to this issue the osgearth
(2.8.0+dfsg-1~exp1) build dependencies are not installable, but since
it's only in experimental this is not a blocker.

All other reverse dependencies (using C++ symbols) rebuilt successfully
as expected.

Due to the matching GDAL version constraint only libgdal-grass
(2.1.2~rc1-1~exp1) built successfully, there were no actual changes to
the gdal plugin source other than the VERSION file.

Hopefully libgdal-grass passes the NEW queue before the final release,
to remove the only blocker for the transition.
