of uptime, these moderately loaded machines (running Apache,
ProFTPD, and Courier IMAP) start spending 90% of CPU time in system state
and become so unresponsive that they must be rebooted. Running the 2.6.28
that was recently in sid (which contains the commit Anton mentions) fixed
this.

Please increase the limit on the kernel's command line length. We're using
debian-installer's preseed support for performing unattended installations
and it's difficult to fit the necessary preseed information into 256 bytes
