and was uploaded to the incoming dir of Debian.
So please review the package and tell me (and the ftp-installer(s))
if this may be fit for Debian

now it uses libdvdread for reading DVDs, that will in turn dl-open
libdvdcss (for people brave enought to install it
by using the convenient script in libdvdread itself ;-) )

last time there was a discussion, it was mainly on licenses and
copyrights, and I was so focused on them that I didn't think
of the CSS code
I will prepare and test an 'mplayer' without the above code
(a la xine) and come back soon

I was talking with a researcher from the RISC institute
and she told me they are licensing the Java library for openmath
as opensource, but she wanted to be sure if the license is opensource

I have been also discussing with Darius Pietrzak
(and thru him with the mplayer developers) about uploading mplayer into
debian. Note that Darius Pietrzak is not a mantainer afaik.
mplayer is already packaged by D.P., the standard way,
but this is not what we want: we want a thing that
