Hi Alex, I tried to make the debian/rules file with the short debhelper 
notation doing the same as the current debian/rules file.  Just roll back the 
commit in case you think this is a bad idea (and hit me with a stick about this 
:-)) I was not able to verify whether the package finally compiles because of 
further source code problems with wrong / missing includes. Hope this helps.
