 No, that would be incorrect.

 The whole point of moving the modules to a private directory is to
 make them unavailable for import to other software. Adding symlinks
 pointing from dist-package to the private directory would defeat this
 purpose.

I guess I have fixed it. [^1]

 If TMPDIR is unset, you should fall back to /tmp.
 What about security? See last paragraphs of Policy §10.4.

2011-11-16 Thread Vern Sun
 I don't intend to sponsor this package, but here is a short review:

I really appreciate your patience and your support.

 Your package has an RC bug that needs to be fixed:

done.

  * Python tested with version 2.6, 2.7, 3.1, 3.2 (Closes: #643782)

 Your package has some changes that are not documented in debian/changelog.

fixed.

  * Updated download url in debian/copyright.
  * Updated Standard-version to 3.9.2.
  * Updated lintian overrides about script-not-executable.
  * Rewrite debian/rules instead of patching the Makefile.

 There is one other bug that you might want to look at and fix or
 forward upstream:

done.

  * There are no Recommends and Suggests, fixed. (Closes: #619748)

 python-support is deprecated, please switch to dh_python2:

done.

  `dh $@ --with python2 --buildsystem=python_distutils'

  ref@http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.debian.devel.python/6614
  ref@http://blog.copyninja.info/2011_02_01_archive.html

 Please add DEP-3 headers to your patch:

fixed.

  * There is no need to apply doc/ranger.1 patch.

 Why do you override dh_auto_test? None of the tests fail.

fixed.

 Please take a look at the debtags and screenshots and update them if needed:

done.

 Your lintian overrides claim that a few scripts are configuration
 files. In that case, why are they not in /etc?

The app support '--copy-config' option.

 The README file contains installation info, you might want to get
 upstream to split that out into README.install.

My english is poor. If this is necessary, should I make a patch to do this?

I have a new version:
 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/r/ranger/ranger_1.5.2-1.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

Re: RFS: vidalia

2008-06-08 Thread Vern Sun
 However, vidalia doesn't work very nicely with the Debian package for Tor.

What I can do to help in the prepackaging process is ask user whether they
want to stop the existing Tor process or not, and told them that they might
have to add 'ControlPort 9051' to the correct torrc. If user say yes, then I
help them to stop the Tor.

New upstream version 0.1.3 has been released. The package can be found on
mentors.debian.net:
- dget http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/v/vidalia/vidalia_0.1.3-1.dsc

PS: Using debconf inside pbuilder sessions
To use debconf inside pbuilder, setting DEBIAN_FRONTEND to readline in
pbuilderrc should work. Setting it to dialog should also work, but make sure
whiptail or dialog is installed inside the chroot.

Thank you for your reply.

* Put vidalia into the net section.
* Upstream’s repo has changed URL, Updated Vcs-* field.
* Move Homepage up to Sources stanza.

  * Indicate why you close #405431 in debian/changelog (something along
 the lines of “Initial upload to the Debian archive”).

 However, as Ansgar said, you have misused the Vcs-* field.

Removed

 I'm also getting the following lintian warning:

 W: vidalia: postinst-does-not-load-confmodule
 N:
 N: Even if your postinst does not involve debconf, you currently need to
 N: make sure it loads one of the debconf libraries. This will be changed
 N:   in the future.

Fixed

 You just need a single entry stating this is the first Debian package and
 detailing any changes from upstream that you needed to make.

 If you have some webspace that you could upload a new -1 package to then
 please do that and let us know the URL.

 I'm not a DD and can't sponsor uploads. However I looked at your
 package and have a comment.

Thanks for commenting, I made a little bit changes like,

  * Build on Sid
  * Use a watch file
  * Add XS-Vcs-Browser, XS-Vcs-SVN, Homepage in control file
  * Clear the debian/rules, delete the commands that are commented out
  * Fix debian/copyright with reviewing the licenses used by different
pieces of code.

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
- URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/v/vidalia
- Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
contrib non-free
