Request to join Python Modules Team
Hi, I have been the maintainer of pyecm and python-gmpy for several years now and have thought it would be a good idea to maintain these packages within the Python Modules Team. Therefore, I request to join it. Note that I am not a Debian developer and therefore do not have an Alioth login. Thanks, Martin Kelly -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-python-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org

Hi Martin, I'm happy to see this email coming :) On Sun, Oct 11, 2009 at 20:50, Martin Kelly aomig...@gmail.com wrote: Hi, I have been the maintainer of pyecm and python-gmpy for several years now and have thought it would be a good idea to maintain these packages within the Python Modules Team. You can register on alioth even if you're not a DD: your login name will have '-guest' suffix, but that's all. Having an alioth user is a precondition to join any team (so this included). 2.6 transition: packages with binary modules?
Dear Debian Python, I was trying to get some of the low hanging fruit in the list of bugs which need to be attacked for the Python 2.6 transition. I ran into some trouble, so was wondering if you could help me out. Some packages, such as python-gnuplot, depend on python-numpy. Since the python-numpy builds are not available for python2.6, do I have to rebuild python-numpy myself, with python2.6, and include it in the chroot where I test out stuff? Or can I be lazy and just wait for the python2.6 upload to unstable, and get the other bugs made RC and then use an updated (possibly binNMUed?) python-numpy to fix further bugs? If my assessment is incorrect, please do point out what I have misunderstood. Otherwise, please advise me on a suitable approach. Thanks!
