Please also remember that the changes have been done on the master archive and will not propagate to any mirrors until the next dinstall run at the earliest. Packages are usually not removed from testing by hand. Testing tracks unstable and will automatically remove packages which were removed from unstable when removing them from testing causes no dependency problems. The release team can force a removal from testing if it is really needed, please contact them if this should be the case. Bugs which have been reported against this package are not automatically removed from the Bug Tracking System. Please check all open bugs and close them or re-assign them to another package if the removed package was superseded by another one. Bug#886186: akonadi-server: akonadi server fails to start mysqld due to apparmor intervention
Package: akonadi-server Version: 4:17.08.3-1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I am following debian testing and in the course of the last months have twice run into the following issue: after aptitude update/full-upgrade, akonadi-server will not start. Running akonadictl start from the command line I spotted the failing command as being the invocation of mysqld. I cannot provide the text of the failing command here because I upgraded akonadi-server and apparmor to unstable to see if the problem goes away (no it doesn't) and now akonadictl keeps crashing on me (and if I would downgrade the data base format does not match any longer). apparmor and libapparmor are at 2.11.1-4. However, the state of my analysis is 1. When starting kontact, akonadi fails to invoke mysqld because the daemon cannot open its configuration file in my home directory (strace). The file exists and is world-readable. The mysqld command line looks unsuspicious and specifies a socket (which exists), the configuration file and something else which I do not remember. 2. The problem disappears after disabling apparmor (which I did not explicitly install, thus the bug classification as important). A reboot is necessary, though - probably systemctl stop apparmor is not sufficient to 'really' stop it. 3. There is a configuration file for myslqd and akonadis invocation of mysqld in /etc/apparmor.d usr.sbin.mysqld usr.sbin.myslqd-akonadi which I did not touch, but whose correctness I cannot judge either. The relevant line seems to come from usr.sbin.mysqld-akonadi @{HOME}/.local/share/akonadi/** rwk, which feels correct, as this describes the path to my configuration file: root@nbof16:/home/sts# ls -l .local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf -rw-r--r-- 1 sts sts 3531 Jan 2 21:19 .local/share/akonadi/mysql.conf OK - this is as far as I feel able to go. There are two sources currently in NEW (kwayland and qqc2-desktop-style), so this + wild breaks could be reason. OTOH, considering maxy did not push to git all of its frameworks uploads (sigh, as usual), and I do not have the will to download 70+ sources manually, then I have no easy way to check (or even fix in git) what could be the issue. This is sligtly OT for the bug though, unless it refers to plain unstable (i.e. no experimental). -- Pino Toscano signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

Thanks. Sorry, I missed this one while browsing reportbug bug list for possible duplicates. Thanks for this bug report! This is indeed very annoying. But even more annoying is the fact that it pulls in the legacy libssl1.0-dev: > The following NEW packages will be installed: […] > libssl1.0-dev And libssl1.0-dev is not co-installable with libssl-dev and hence upgrading KDE tries to remove libssl-dev which is inacceptable on a developer's machine. Bug#886107: kdepim: depends on a lot of developer packages
Package: kdepim Version: 4:16.04.3+5.95 Severity: normal Dear Sandro, dear Maxy, dear Pino, dear maintainers, A happy, peaceful and successful new year to you! Today I tried again to upgrade to KF 5.41 from experimental and aptitude stumbled over updating some -dev packages I had still installed. I removed them and was surprised that apt removed kdepim + kmail as well. Afterwards I reinstalled kdepim and saw that apt wants to draw in a lot of *-dev packages. # Actual results merkaba:~> LANG=C apt install --no-install-recommends kdepim Reading package lists... Need to get 16.5 MB/17.4 MB of archives. After this operation, 95.1 MB of additional disk space will be used. Also the version number of the KDEPIM meta package suggests that is still for 16.04 instead of 17.08 of KDEPIM. # Expected results As kdepim is about the pre-compiled, binary version of KDEPIM I´d expect to depend on no *-dev packages. I´d expect these to be installed as build dependencies in case I want to build KDEPIM myself. Of course it may be that it is not kdepim package itself drawing in these development packages, but some package it depends on does this. Also I´d expect the version number of the meta package reflect which version of KDEPIM is going to be installed.
