some more information: it appears that the issue is sometimes
accompanied by screen disturbances, i.e. the screen appears scrambled
and multiple times on the monitor (but not always), in which case I can
only reboot the PC to get rid of the problem.

perhaps for people finding this bug report and agreeing with the fact
that fonts have been uglified with the recent kde updates.
The issue is not anti-aliasing per se but that sub-pixel hinting as been put
off per default.

while a *sub-*task is selected; if a top task is selected, Alt+Ctrl+C
works as expected.
