Thanks Kurt for posting this to the Debian Science mailing list.
Thanks to all for their replies. And thanks again for making OpenFOAM
available in Debian.
Let us compare this file of v7 (OpenFOAM-org)

the OpenFOAM into Debian.

Hello all,
I've been working on packaging OpenFOAM 5/6 for a bit now, and in fact
it's taken so long that the first patch release has occurred right as
I've finished.
I've made pull requests here:

My main motivation for packaging
Hi Salvador, nothing has been included in Debian yet. I am just starting
(trying) to compile the source code from upstream. Its the same to all
of us I suppose: as well as you I do not have any time at my work for
debianizing this software. Its all a volunteer job. Greetings, Gerber
On Mon,
developers adopt a newer building system in their package? This
might ease the maintenance work for newer releases.
What is for sure that software included in OpenFoam and also already in
Debian/Unstable or Testing of identic or newer release, (like gcc,
Openmpi,..) will have to be removed from
I am working on this software a bit, and you just compilation yet much.
would have to look and see that part is already included in debian and no.
For my work I have little time, but it would be important to put this
project.

to hack into my bash init
scripts. A good first step might be to crawl the OpenFOAM forums and
assemble a good list of technical issues that can be installed via
debconf etc.

Hi,
I am trying to install the CFD package OpenFoam. Until now, without much
success. Unfortunately the software is in the Debian package repository,
though I found a project on Alioth. The project admin did not respond on
my question about the progress of the packaging the software for Debian
It looks good, it would have to do if someone is already working on it or
even not.
Also we need to enter the package to debian.
I think it's a good idea.

Marco, please let me ask you one more time to keep the discussion
on-list. That is, at least CC: the rest of the list. I think others
might be able to benefit from this exchange.

Someone just pointed OpenFOAM to me, and it's intriguing. As a C++
coder, I would like to check it out. I'm curious to know if anyone on
this list has any experience with it. Wikipedia claims it's the oldest
substantial C++ code in existence, which must be interesting.
