I've been trying to set up a new debian based email server
for a client and its a horrible nightmare to get both
STARTTLS and AUTH working.
Let's just tackle STARTTLS for this message.
When ever I try anything in evolution that attempts a STARTTLS
I get this evolution error dialog:

I'm very tired of struggling with sendmail to get it to support STARTTLS
and SMTPAUTH under debian.
STARTTLS is a pretty easy single include line in the .mc files.
but AUTH is a real pain.
What is the easiest method (preferrably one that doesn't require sasl)
to get AUTH setup so that:

Yes, and more secure to boot
Look like I got this fixed. I had to reboot my machine that seemed
to do the trick. My guess is that evolution cached some cert
along the way and only cleared it out when I rebooted.
hmmm. Unix does occasionally need to be rebooted. Go figure.
