Are /dev/hdd1 and /dev/hdc1 both partitions of type (hex)fd?

I looked in /etc/init.d/mdadm-raid (enclosed below)
And saw that the script choses between mdadm and mdrun.
Funny thing is that if I execute mdrun it starts up my arrays.
Any clue to why
