The long of it: if you have info(1) installed, I strongly
recommend you read the date(1) Info manual. The short of it: to set
you system date to 16:09:35, 23rd November 2000, do:
# date 112316092000.35

Problem is, 'ispell-dictionary' (the meta package "provided" by
the dictionary packages) is not a dependency so apt-get doesn't
install it. It couldn't anyway, because you *have* to select one of
the "real" dictionary packages. apt-get insta
ib/ispell/default.hash
Robert> Anyone know which package is missing?
That's very weird... Do you have any of the dictionary packages
installed (iamerican, ibritish etc)?

rself. Do the following:
# rpm --initdb
And you'd be all set. Read up on the rpm manual page, as
well. HTH, HAND.

f you know the IRQ, DMA and I/O port settings for your card, run
modconf and set it up so that the cs4232 module is correctly
loaded. If you don't know them, I suggest you apt-get sndconfig, which
I am not sure is available for potato. HTH.

Actually, modconf(8) also modifies /etc/modules.conf, where the
arguments to the modules are defined. But, you're right, using modconf
is the "right way" to go about it.

The compiler flag '-lm' is your friend. It will link in 'libm',
the standa

That could have been me. Lots of people (including yours truly)
find using apt-get (to install individual packages and upgrading your
system smoothly) and aptitude (to select from the the list of
available packages) much more pleasant than wandering through the
obscu
e.
I haven't pondered on the details of your problem very much, but
it seems to me that rdist(1) is your friend.

Or, for an even better option, install dlocate and run:
$ dlocate -S
'dlocate' is to 'dpkg' as 'locate' is to 'find' (roughly
speaking), it performs all the search operations

This may help (in fact, it comes from the FAQ):
$ dpkg --get-selections | sed -e 's/uninstall/install/' > foobar
$ dpkg --set-selections < foobar
And avoid using dselect in the future!
