Recently hear that ubuntu 7.10 has a PDF printer enabled by default. I did some
digging around and found that this was accomplished through the use of cups-pdf.
So I went ahead and installed it using aptitude. Now, I can access the cups

Yes it actually does exist and in fact I think it is a better implementation
than the one in KDE. Here is a screenshot of it.

Recently installed Debian Etch on an old PowerBook G4. Running beautifully. I
installed supertux from aptitude and install went fine. I tried launching but
all I get is a blank screen. I can hear the sounds but that is it.

You might want to try the gparted live CD
(http://gparted.sourceforge.net/livecd.php). Boot from it and resize partitions
on the fly.

headers. It only installs one binary file. It takes getting used to and maybe a
few tweaks to get it right but it is definitely worth it.

the best comparison would be to Windows Device Manager where it shows you all
hardware associated with your system and a "question mark" on those that it

debian or other distros still use gcc ver 3 because it is much more
tested and stable. In quite a few cases, byte code from gcc 4 will be faster
than byte code from gcc 3.

When using the convert command, the png image is automatically converted to an
8.5 by 11 sized pdf document.
I guess I'll have to reduce the size of the png image first and then convert it
as pdf?

I'm a happy camper with Debian Etch here on my old laptop. Thanks to all the
developers and the users for the great work!
Right now, I have an old laptop with a noisy harddrive. I have installed
laptop-mode tools and set my hard drive spin down to around 20 seconds. Here is

What an amazing system this is.
Anyways, font smoothing has been working quite well on this laptop screen except
for xterm. I finally figured out how to change the font in xterm to bitstream
