Well, I really appreciate the deb-multimedia, but as I ran into similar
troubles times ago, I usually remove all non-official packages before
upgrade and reinstall them afterwards.

I'm not absolutely sure anymore, but I think timidity blocks phonon. I
removed timidity (didn't need it anymore).

Yes, I had a similar problem, not so serious, also intel graphics.
I changed the composer from open-gl to Xrender and the problem was gone.

Can't you just plug the printer locally to a PC, change manually the PC's
network-address to 192.168.1.x, connect to the printer and change its IP to
192.168.2.x. Then, of course, you will loose the connection, but the printer
