Assuming that you started xfig from an xterm window
icon on
the fly from the picon repositories and thus you don't even need to
install the picon database locally but if I recall well when I was
using it the Java runtime was using a lot of memory:-(

In this script (/usr/sbin/get-news), you must change
the bad put-news path "/usr/bin/put-news" with
the path: "/usr/sbin/put-news".
The bug is closed with the new version (2.6.3-2). This
new version is in the unstable distribution.
