bash_history from Cracked Computer

This linux box was plugged into the same LAN as our company NT Network. It wasn't setup to access the NT Network or be involved in it. It just get's it's TCP/IP signal from the LAN. My question is could this cracker get access to our NT Network from this linux box? Could he have scanned the

Someone hacked into my linux web server and caused some problems. I'm still trying to figure it out. Anybody have a good link for linux security? I'm not sure how they got in, so any suggestions would be great. Dzuy

If I figure my apache web server to allow virtual hosts, does the 'DocumentRoot' directive in the main server configuration area of httpd.conf get ignored? By setting up the virtual hosts, do all my domains have to be listed in: VirtualHost ip /VirtualHost And is this now the default

Moving /home to new Parition

I mounted a new partition /hda12 and use the /home as the mountpoint. When I go: mount /dev/hda12 /home I end up with an empty directory. How do I move the current contents of my /home directory into the new mountpoint /home on /dev/hda12? thanks.

How do I ad a ntpdate line to my rc.local boot script? I want it to synchronize my clock everytime I boots. I usually type: ntpdate 140.142.16.34 at the root prompt. I can't figure out how to put it into the startup script. thanks.

Mounting the Swap partition

I recently checked my '/etc/fstab' and found that my swap drive does not mount at boot. When I check with 'df' I do not see it on the printout. I was wondering if I should ad this command in the '/etc/fstab': /dev/hda2 none swap sw Do you need to mount the swap partition? -- Dzuy M. Nguyen
