Yo lo que hice fue instalar apt-cacher, que automaticamente cachea los
archivos que bajas, y puse una entrada en cron que bajaba los paquetes
nuevos diariamente. Así nunca me doy cuenta cuando se bajan los paquetes, y
se instalan a velocidades tremendas.

shell).
This tool basically does what you did, so they are pretty much equivalent.
Still, it is useful to know this command.
