an http debian mirror?
http.us.debian.org
(it's actually more than one server, so if a problem exists - just retry,
and it'll probably try another of those servers)

I've thought about it before, but never got it to the lists before now.
So here goes :-))

Hi all,
I was wondering if there is a way to search for a particular type of
package in dselect (not based on it's name, but on what it does)?

The problem is normally when you install a new version of a package
Try 'man fstab', it explains all of the fields in /etc/fstab

I was browsing ftp.debian.org and found (among others) the following
directories:
/debian/hamm/hamm/disks-i386/
/debian/hamm/main/disks-i386/2.0.10_1998-07-17/
/debian/hamm/main/disks-i386/2.0.10_1998-07-21/
bzip2, a newer version of bzip
The formats are incompatible, that's why it's called bzip2

What exactly is a bz2 file?? Is it bzip
In a RedHat fdisk-like program, i saw an option to make it a resizable
partition.
Can anyone give more info about this ?

You can have a look at the linuxlogo (or something like this) package. It

Yes, but I believe the question was about a graphical logo that shows up
instead of boot-up kernel messages

Yes, but this is not necessary on debian, cuz by default you can scroll back
all they way up to about 20-25 lines before lilo/whatever bootloader/kernel
starts filling the screen.

This works for redhat:
Edit innitab and put in --noclear as follows in the relevant line.
