Again, just use force-depends to overide dependencies, and hopefully it
should work. Incidentally, I think I remember you when I was trying to
get KDE beta 3
with Debian - one of the
first questions it asks you is whether you want to install shadow
passwords. I haven't had any real problems with my Debian 1.3 then 2.0
frozen systems - with that superb package system it all works fine.
However, Red Hat is supposedly a lot easier to use.

Well, when I upgraded I found that a lot of my old programs had
dependencies that conflicted with new versions - qt1 and qt1g for
example. Basically, you should try and upgrade in one go, downloading
new versions from either stable or unstable, and not mixing the two too
much.

I have a microsoft ps/2 mouse with the wheel and I was wondering if the wheel

formatting program to do my tapes with, I think you can format them using
dosemu but I'm not sure.

using just dpkg (dselect is a front-end to dpkg). It is actually very
easy. The only thing that is more difficult is in manually dealing
with dependencies between packages.
