Hi there, I have Debian1.2 running kernel 2.0.27. The tar package version is 1.11.8-5. I can create multipy floppy archive using 'tar cvMf /dev/fd0' but NOT retrieving it using 'tar xvMf /dev/fd0'. I always get 'Segmentation faults and then core dumped' when I tried the latter ??!!. I think

If I understand correctly, as soon as I set the 'user' flag in /etc/fstab, any user can mount/unmount a partition. But - why can't I use 'mount -atnfs' when all nfs partitions have the user flag set (error message is 'mount: only root can do that')? Benedikt I suspect you also need mount

My question : How does one get Debian updates from a Debian ftp site using a non-Debian machine ?? I read that there is a 'dftp' C-shell-script in the 'contrib/tool' directory in the ftp site but I couldn't find it !! Does anyone know where it is ?? I also have difficulties in finding out more
