I am running Potato and have just install Gnome using apt-get install gdm. I
have two question.
1, When the gnome login screen appears I select gnome for my session from
the drop down mune and enter my login and pass and hit enter. The screen
goes black the right back to the login

I running Potato and on startup, I see some error message about Unresolved
symbol in but I cant read it in time. When I do a dmesg I dont see the
error. Why? and what is it? Also I see that ISDN Service is starting. Im not
using a ISDN so do I shut it off in init.d directory? And

I have a quick qestion, I want my nic cards (eth0 and eth1) to keep the
setting I configure such as ip, netmask after rebooting. Each time I reboot
eth1 dumps all the information I put in the ifconfig setup. How can I get it
to store and keep the information for both nic cards?

Under the most recent Corel Linux I compiled 2.2.14 for a
notebook and everything went fine.
I can ping around the globe, do nslookups, and dig.
I also can ping back and forth within my intranet.
No worries here.
However, any browser, whatsoever refuses to bring up web pages
from the internet.
I had the same problem where I have two files in /usr/doc/mount/ that were
block devices on the README.Debain.gz.
They way I got rid of the files is to go into debugfs. Be careful with
this util. You can use debugfs' rm and it will clear the inode. Problem
solved.

As a new user of Linux it took me four times to get it installed on my old
machine, the last time I had to take apart my PC to resolve a minor cable
problem that Windows 95 had no problem with. I read for a full week the
documentation provided on the Debian web site before I attempted to
routines,
and I do not see anything out of the ordinary.
Anyone have any hints on how to get this volume to shutdown cleanly?
Booting up into the rescue partition next time to run ckraid is not that fun.

If slink's netbase is not going to include ipmasqadm, then there needs to
be a package for ipmasqadm. To go to potato's netbase cleanly, involves
many iteration.

I have checked the bios... and it is odd that for the two ports there are
three settings, one disabled, and then one for IRQ4, IO0x03e8 and another
for IRQ3, IO0x02e8. And the BIOS lets you know when you have set the
serial port up conflicting. But I did check, and both are on!

PS: My computer has two builton serial ports listed as port1 and port2.
setserial detects these as ttyS2 and ttyS3 (which I know are the 3rd and
4th serial devices). Mine is physicall pluges into port1, which I am
seeing as ttyS2. But as I said

I figured pretty standard modems. I was using the USR on a NT with all the
same cables, so I know the cable and modem do work.
