I have a PC that I am trying to install Debian 2.1 on, and I am having a heck of a time. It has had RedHat 6.0 installed on it, but I want to switch it to Debian.
The hard drives in the computer are connected to a promise Ultra33 card (http://www.promise.com/Products/idecards/u33.htm)which does work, the hard drives are detected at boot up if I add the paramaters described in the UDMA Mini HOWTO (http://pobox.com/~brion/linux/Ultra-DMA.html)and as the machine boots up it does detect the drives (hde and hdg.) When I try to install though the install program tells me there are no hard drives. I switched over to the 2nd virtual console and noticed there are no devices for hde or hdg, so I am guessing this is the problem. I am hoping someone has a quick fix for me. I would like to leave the setup the way it is, the HD controller that is on the motherboard is really flaky. Thanks! john
