I think the problem was with Yahoo only. I'm able to login to yahoo
using my same 1.2.1-1 version of Gaim this morning. Anyway I will have
to do the upgrade soon.

then you can use -dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 or -dev=ATAPI:0,1,0
etc. with cdrecord depending upong which drive you
want to use for writing.

All right, thats done. I used the following command:
$ mkfs.ext3 -v /dev/hdb10
mkfs wrote the inodes, made the journal, etc. and I
could see the type as ext3 when I checked /dev/hdb
with cfdisk.
My next question is, how to allow users to write to
the partition. Current permissions are drwxr_xr_x
did read about cfdisk but I just
want to make sure that I'm doing the right thing as it
is being done as root.

The audio/sound was working fine on my Debian Unstable
box till recently. But I can't hear any sound/audio
for the last 4 days. No audio for movies, mp3s, CDs,
etc which used to play normally. XMMS shows that it is
playing the audio files (no warnings/errors in xterm)
but there is no audio.
