Do you know the mplayer command to convert real media audio-only file
to a mp3 file?
I try audacity:
1) connect lineout of sound card to linein
2) play real media audio with real player
3) use audacity to record the sound
The result isn't good, there's noise and loss
Thanks!

Which package should I install for mp3 recording?
I install audacity, but it need libmp3lame.so
According to tldp.org/HOWTO/MP3-HOWTO-9.html
bladdenc can do the job, but which package should I install?
Thanks!

When apt-get installs a package
it will install packages that the package depends
When I remove the package, the depended packages are not removed.
Is there a command (or a way) to remove the depended packages?

I want a image viewer
It should be small (use less disk space)
It does not depend on KDE or GNOME because I use neither
It can show image in full size by default (thumbnail isn't important)
It can let me delete image file that I don't like

It seems I have found out the cause:
My script is simple:
It does Masquerading
It allows the client to visit ONLY one Web site.
So for FORWARD chain, all traffic is blocked except from/to the Web
site and 2 DNS servers. These are OK with sarge (kernel 2.4) and etch
(kernel 2.6)
for INPUT and OUTPU

I don't use KDE
I hate those big software that are not very useful
My requirement is simple: masquerading that allow clients to visit
only some sites.
My script works in sarge!
Is there anyone that can make a few correction to make my script work in etch?
On Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 7:38 AM, thveillon
I install shorewall on etch
but I have not found it useful
My configuration is Masquerade that allow client machine to visit only
some sites.
Can you recommend other frontends?

I have a bttv card
etch loads driver for it during booting

so I have to use commands below:
rmmod bttv
modprobe bttv card=8
I add "bttv card=8" to /etc/modules
but it does not help.
My question is how to help etch use correct options so that I needn't

I can't write patch
IMO sarge and Linux in general is pretty safe
In contrast Windows often has virus and strange problems (maybe caused
by hackers)
I have never seen crash or attack in Linux
