sounds like you may have, at one point, had this line in your lilo.conf
file...
boot=/dev/hda1
if the above is the case an easier way is to uninstall lilo as follows:
lilo -u /dev/hda1
this will restore the saved boot sector from /boot/boot.

at work. Under win95, dhcpcd always gives me the same IP address, but when
I boot under Debian, it always gives me a different IP which is annoying as
it makes it hard to find by others and myself on the network.
I had problems connecting to my provider with chap (but whether its the same
version as your chap I don't know), and I used the ppp-config to set it up
once all my 'by hand' efforts had failed. It worked a charm, but I say I'm
not sure my provider uses your provider's version of chap.

going on (I'm still in HAMM - it's *not * the __register_frame_info

After a broken upgrade, I re-installed Debian2.0. With 1.3, I'd
installed dhcpc and it like worked right out of the box i think.
For my re-install, i set up the base system and said | was on a network
and filled in all the info.
Then, I installed dhcpc thinking it would like get all that

dists and puting things in their /etc/rc.d/rc.local file.
Where should I put stuff that normally you'd just bung in rc.local for

Hi,
My modem is behaving oddly suddenly - it keeps getting reset or
something after about 10mins or so, making big-ish downloads a pain.
It's happened under NT as well as Linux, especially in the evenings
(UK).
Under Linux I get (in ppp.log and in the console) (something like...)
