nVidia Riva TNT graphics card driver

Could someone please take me step-by-step through the process of installing the nVidia driver? I am currently using the SVGA driver with with it but the nVidia driver has to be much better. I have v4.0 of X installed. Do I have to re-compile a new kernel? (No problem I've done that many times,

how do you set your system clock from a remote time server?

I saw, just a few days ago, a post with a command to get the current time and reset the system clock. I didn't pay much attention then 'cause I thought the script I used to use with RH would work. They don't. (No 'rdate' and no 'clock'). Tia Maury
