lprng not removing finished jobs

2003-03-24 Thread Norbert Nemec
Hi there, does anybody have a clue why LPRng does not remove finished jobs? I have 3.8.15-1 installed which is supposed to have a bug fixed in that respect. Our configuration is somewhat tricky with remote and local printers in the network, but the option save_when_done is definitely not

Desperate about mounting/unmounting/checking-root-problems

2001-09-07 Thread Norbert Nemec
Hi there, is there anybody out there who has experiences in this as well and might give me hints about it: Ever since I've been running kernel 2.4.x, my system has problems unmounting filesystems correctly at shutdown time and now suddenly it starts complaining at fsck-time during the boot.

Kernel 2.4.x: umount failing during shutdown (devfs?)

2001-07-17 Thread Norbert Nemec
Hi there, I've been using Kernel 2.4.x for quite a while now (2.4.4 at the moment) and it really works great, except for one last problem: At shutdown time, the machine complains that devfs can't be unmounted, because it is used (remounting ro instead) Usually, that is not a problem, just an

Problem: 'only root can unmount /dev/something from /somewhere'

Hi there, on quite a number of machines I've encountered the problem, that a normal user can mount filesystems (user-flag set in /etc/fstab) but when trying to unmount, the above error is given instead. It seems a problem in either kernel 2.4 series or one of the new versions of mount, since I

Hi out there, I've been trying to compile kernel 2.2.1 for several machines in our small network. Now, some computers bring the message above during bootup at the command: route add -net 127.0.0.0 (in /etc/init.d/network) After that, the IP-network is not working fully. (Parts, like nfs
