I have exactly the same problem, but with a remote (network) printer. I tried
lpd instead of LprNG, the problem
stays.
It might be a bug somewhere. Maybe we should file a bug report ?

Hi.
I use ppp to connect to my provider. When it connects, I can do "ping",
everything's OK.
However, I can't do ftp or smtp or http; il lasts for years and nothing
happens.
When I run ftp, I get the message "Connected to xxx.xxx.xxx", and then
nothing happens.
I can't access the remote machine. I
Hello.
I have a PostScript printer connected via TCP/IP. Everything works fine,
excepting the printing of ASCII Text :
it prints only the first line. The printer is a Xerox NC60. I use the
ps600-only filter.
Anybody has an idea ?
Thanks.

erified it with ping and ftp in command line. It's the same with
HTTP : 'Connected to...',
and then nothing.
Now, I suppose that's related to the kernel, because the problem
stays when using lynx.
Anybody has an idea ?
Thanks.

Hi.
I have a HP1100 Printer + Scanner. I use magicfilter to print, but the
best resolution I got
is only 300 dpi (with the laserjetplus filter), whilst the printer
supports 600 dpi.
Does anybody knows what filter should be used for a better resolution on
this printer ?
And, by the way, can the sc
e sound menu of the kernel config as well.

Hello !
I have just installed slink on my machine, but I don't succeed to start

I get the message "Get_local_host : hostname "petru" bad".
I recompiled the kernel, but the problem stays.
Can anybody help me ?
Thanks.

I have two questions :
1. Is it necessary to run a Samba Client for Windows on the machine with
the printer, or
the Windows95 software is enough ?
2. How must I configure my machine to access the other's printer ?
Thank you for your help.

Hello.
I'm trying to make an ALS 100 Sound Device to work on a Linux machine.
Apparently, the card is recognized as a full-compatible SoundBlaster 16
card at the boot time,
and that is what it is.
The proc/dma and /proc/interrupts show it, but the /dev/sndstat and
the/dev/tkmixer
are not created
