As far as I know, qt is some sort of library for managing the interaction
between the user and the X-window system.
Your problem seems to me a dependency problem. Doesn't deselect solves these

As far as I know, the defualt setup is to have exim running only when it is
needed. i.e, it might not run in daemon mode on your machine

If I remember correctly you have to edit /etc/syslog.conf and maybe also have
the debug option on. Try looking at /usr/doc/ppp, I think this is on the FAQ.
I did not use ppp for sometime now, hopefully someone else will give you a
more accurate response.
