I am using Samba and lpr, both from the latest potato to a Laserjet III
without a problem. The Laserjet is on the parallel port, not a network
printer [extra info there].
Hope this helps,

Install the package pppconfig or dunc. They both create a connection by
asking simple questions. pppconfig is my preference for a quick and easy
setup.

I just upgraded to hamm from 1.3r8, everything seemed to go smoothly, but
now I have a bit of a problem with utmp/wtmp. [see below]. I remember
seeing something about this in the past, however I cannot find the message.
The rest of the system is functioning fine.
Any help would be appreciated!
Only way I found: [not extremely hard, but not basic]
Get the source - shadow_980403_orig_tar.gz
in the file shadow-980403/src/passwd.c
Change line 402 so that it looks like below(get rid of the I am root
test part of the strength test). Then run the configure script, and
rebuild the passwd
Sounds like you are trying to load the UMSDOS filesystem as a kernel
module, but you didn't build and install the modules yet, or UMSDOS
wasn't selected as a fileystem type in the config stage.
Go through the kernel config ('make menuconfig' is a quick and easy text
menu), go down to Filesystems,

Sorry - my aplogies - I meant /etc/issue, hey it's 1am here :-)
At the top of my /etc/issue I put the ANSI Codes for home/clear:
^[[H^[[J -- (ESC)[H(ESC)[J
you can get the ESC char in vi by hitting ctrl+V, then ESC.
Hope this helps

I am running debian linux 1.2, when I log in from the console or telnet,
I get an error on running fortune:
/usr/share/games/fortunes/art.dat: Too many open files
I also get this error whenever I try to run Netscape, except relating to
the java library files (instead of art.dat):
: /usr/share/games/fortunes/art.dat: Too many open files
Did you installed lshell?
I just checked, lshell was installed, so I purged it and it works.
Thanks Much!
