I don't know how much of a help is this, but do you know how stable that
machine may be?
I don't recall getting a dbootstrap error myself, but I got one strange
experience with an OpenBSD install. Part of the hard drive was beyond

Well I got a spare 3c509 that has not been used. I suppose I could try
that card too. I got no spare cable, but if the spare card is also
having problems, that would give me a good idea what's going on.

the parameters should be somewhere in the
subdirectory debian, but when I thought I changed the right one, it
didn't even affect the parameters the slightest bit.
Would anyone know where exactly the compiler parameters are stored in an
unarchived source package so that I could alter those settings?

It may have been the iptables package which provides the init.d script.
the comments in the /etc/defaults/iptables says that not even the author
likes it.

Here's my problem, no matter how I try, I couldn't get aumix to supply
the sound through the headset instead of the speakers. The speakers have
front and back plugs, while the headset is on a separate plug.
Any ideas?

Although I don't have the experience, I'd advise against using a soft-RAID root
partition because if you don't have the right kernel for recovery you could
be in pretty big trouble.
You're better off using a separate drive as a root partition for LVM or
soft-RAID.

Well I do have another tool Partition Magic residing on the otherside of
the dual boot, The problem is that it couldn't move the partition either... it
thinks the ext2 is full. All it could do is to delete the partition, which
would be the last thing on earth that I wanted to do.

umounted before you can convert. On my laptop, I was lazy and I only
have one partition for linux (the root partition). If so, then wouldn't

I'm planning to set up a proxy, and I'll have to get the standard
services (HTTP, FTP, POP), and SOCKS on the firewall. I'm just wondering
how the heck the machines inside can get DNS requests if they need to
have a DNS resolved? Do I have to setup a DNS for that purpose?

dpkg-reconfigure xserver-common, and specify that anyone could start X
server, yet it still wouldn't start. I was using Gnome/Enlightenment.

if you download deb packages off ftp you should be able to
get md5 sums, perhaps debsums is what you're looking for.
Without a doubt, deb packages rules over rpm.. I have so much trouble with RPM
back then...

Somehow, by some odd chances, that my /var/log/wtmp was corrupted, and it left
5 files in /var/log/lostfound and logrotate is complaining.

I'm having this odd ball problem where ssh refuses to read the host keys and it
is unable to setgid. I've no idea what is wrong.
Does anyone have a clue about this?

I've use 2.4.0 test10 and now 2.4.0, and swap is 0, and shared is 0.
My machine has 384M ram.
