kernel-image.deb which is
named exactly as the installed kernel. This is not good, because
installing it may overwrite the existing kernel and stealing me the
ability to fix anything in case of misconfiguration.

The solution was easy for me: I had a file joerg.asc with my public-key. I
imported it with gpg --import joerg.asc

Well, no. I'm using good old-fashioned XFree3.3.6 and Helix Gnome 1.2

do you have your boot image on the raid disk?
The image should reside in the /boot - directory and this directory has to be
on a separate partition. Lilo cannot boot from a raid partition.
The /boot partition could be very small, I choose 25 MB.
That's enough for a lot of images.

The problem is, that I don't know how to start a KDE-session out of gdm.
I have all KDE-packages installed, but I cannot choose sessions else
than "Gnome", "Debian" and "Xsession"

So
what you have to do is installing Win'98 first (did I say that before ;-)?) and
after installing linux, edit /etc/lilo.conf and add an entry
other=/dev/hda1
label=win
and run lilo. this will let you choose between linux and window

scsi-support). Things ran fine for some time, this message came up
yesterday for the first time. I cannot remember having changed anything

how can I check if new mail has arrived on a pop server WITHOUT logging
in? Netscape does smth like this, checks for new mail every n minutes and
does not require a password before you actually download the mail. I want
