I'm guessing you are running potato, so if not this may not apply:
I've compiled every prerelease version of x11amp, up to and including
beta1.1, without problems. You have the gtk and glib stuff, but do you have
the gdk stuff too? For me, x11amp needs these libraries:

I have a problem with du. When I do a du * -sx the -x flag
should exclude other mounted filesystems, but it doesn't. I was
using v3.16 and then upgraded to 4.00, both don't work right. Can

that program to configure xmcd.

Are you upgrading from a 2.0.x series kernel? If so, there are a number of
changes to the way sound is set up -- read the docs in Documentation/sound.
Especially if you compiled sound support as a module (which I'm guessing
you did since you weren't asked to configure it), it would be a good idea

Yup, that's supposed to happen. If you do a ps uxf, you'll notice that some
of the x11amp processes are actually spawned by the original that you
started. I think it has to do with threading.

Well, from what I hear from the Nethack maintainer (Ben Gertzfield),
I believe the problem you're having is a kernel issue. You have to
recompile, making sure that the SMB Win95 bug work-around is compiled in.

Well, the way I did it, a long time ago, was to grab the apt package from
http://www.debian.org/~jgg and install it. Your best

1) /usr/lib/games/nethack/nethack should be chmod-ed 2755, owned by root
and belonging to group games. I suspect this is where your problem lies.
/usr/games/nethack is just a wrapper shell script to execute the nethack
binary.
2) Are you running hamm (Debian 2.0) or slink (frozen)?
Do a `dpkg -S libXt.so.6` -- does xlib6g and/or xlib6 show up? You should
probably install both to keep compatibility in case either program
depends on the older xlib6 package contents and also to make sure newer
programs dependent upon the xlib6g contents will be able to find it.
