enabled the CD to work fine!

by Debian.
I have changed the line in /etc/fstab
/dev/cdrom /cdrom
iso9660 defaults,noauto 0
0
to:
/dev/cdrom
the symlink:
# ln -s /dev/hdc /dev/cdrom
and then everything should work.

You must have a cdrom directory in root.
mkdir cdrom. That might solve your problem. Make sure your drive is an
ATPI.
