I have a HP 8200 usb CD Writer Plus and am trying to get it to work. I have compiled the necessary modules for a 2.4.3 kernel. When I load the usb-ohci module, it finds the HP 8200 but I can't seem to access it.
I think the problem is with devfs. If I try and mount it I get the following: # mount /usbcdrw mount: special device /dev/scd0 does not exist And it is right. It doesn't exist! See here: $ ls -al /dev/scd0 lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 3 Apr 22 16:21 /dev/scd0 -> sr0 $ ls -al /dev/sr0 ls: /dev/sr0: No such file or directory So, how do I create the device /dev/sr0 under devfs? Or should it be called something else in devfs since it is a usb device? Thanks. Mark.
