Incoming telnet attempts during leafnode/fetch nntp connections

During leafnode's fetch nntp connections there have been attempts (unsuccessful) to telnet into my machine. My machine dials in to an isp using pppd (dynamic address allocation) and ip-up: runq, getpop3, fetch and disconnects. Sometimes fetch stays connected for as much as 1 hour and more.
