I downloaded and installed the KDE 1.1 .debs on my Slink
system. Whenever I try to run applications that use libkfile.so, I get
the following error:

kedit: error in loading shared libraries

Ok, I've a "workaround": I've compiled the library
by myself. The steps:
- Download kdelibs-1.1.tar

When I was using KDE, I didn't have trouble with it. I will however admit
I didn't use it for long before I broke down and learned how to setup the
fvwm2 menus, etc.

Looks like I was a tad hasty toward the end there... It seems that the
"-1" revision of the two kdesupport*.deb packages are ok. I see that
they've now removed all of the other (bad) "-1" packages, as well.

I´ve installed Gnome (0.30) which I get from ftp.gnome.org in .deb
format. It worked great, but it was not KDE (which I love), so I decided to
install KDE.
I downloaded KDE 1.1 from ftp.varesearch.com which I get in .deb
format too. When trying to install (dpkg

I downloaded yesterday KDE 1.1 (-19990207-1) from ftp.kde.org. The .deb

invalid ZIP file and it can't decompress. I tried to redownload the files

Hi,
all you have to do is
1. Update to slink (I have done so and it worked well - it may also work with

3. get the *.deb files from
ftp.[de.]kde.org/pub/.../dists/deb/potato/binary-i386/
4. install them with dpkg -i [nam

use that term?) I think I have all the files except for qt1.42 as I am unsure of
exactly where to find it. Can someone please give me instructions for
