I am trying to use two monitors at once, for the first time, using an
Nvidia dual head card.
I have now got the two monitors displaying a single screen and the mouse
passes from one to the other. However, the second screen blanks after
around 20 seconds of non-use and nothing will bring it ba

Hi all,
Since my reinstall of Debian last weekend, I'm having problems with my
monitor (as the subject already suggested :-/). Thing is, X starts up
gracefully (nVidia; gdm), when I exit my WM however, my monitor yields
an "out of range"-error. It's refresh rates are too high then,
although I made

OK, so I added modelines to Display section of XF86Config-4. Now the
section looks like this:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Card0"
Monitor"Monitor0"
SubSection "Display"
Depth 1
Modes "1024x768" "800x60

If you are using a gpm mouse, and it is using the default configuration,
these lines should be

I think you need to change /etc/gpm.conf to read something like:
device=/dev/mouse
responsiveness=
repeat_type=raw
type=ps2
append=""
and then restar
Yes, I use a standard gpm mouse (to the best of my knowledge :-) )

Hello!
I just installed Debian on my fairly good Pentium !!!, and just barely
got my (very good indeed!) monitor to work (thanks to the people on the
list). Now, I am having major problems configuring it, as the
configuration utility that I run during installation never configures
the mouse right.

No idea what the problem is, sorry. It would seem though that your
monitor is being driven too hard.
Hi,
I've got Woody running o.k. on a laptop but when I go to install it onto a hp
desktop with S3 Savage 8m video card equipped p.c., even in the early text
based installation routines there is a lot of hash on the screen. ie say a
text box is up on the screen and is either being refreshed often

I've been trying to setup this monitor with XF86Setup...
and not having much luck.
"Luck" is a good word since I haven't been able to find anything about
it via web and usenet searches, or on the XFree86 site and the monitor
specific links provided in their FAQ.
I did find a site (www.anatekcorp.
Matthew,
I have experienced strange colors when the X server doesn't
know about the RAMDAC chip on the video card. Perhaps
you could add the RAMDAC definition to the XF86Config
file (or remove it if it is there).

Dear all,
I aquired a cheap and not very exciting computer 2nd hand, on the
understanding that the monitor was a 14inch VGA. I installed Debian 2,
which is the only OS on my hdd ;), including Xwindows. I can't get my
monitor to work properly.
I tried running XF86Setup, plugged in the info
