Issue: Slack no longer shows tray icon
Background: I user Slack and follow the usual workaround in order to
install the deb package:
- download libindicator3-7
- download libappindicator3-1
- install slack-desktop
Problem: Started maybe

Assuming Gnome:
IIRC, update-manager has been removed from testing, and I don't think
it is installed
by default in Wheezy (stable). It has been superseded by another
graphical update manager: gnome-packagekit.
This new update manager (part of upstream Gnome) also has an icon in the

remember I sometimes had to remove it or something similar, from some
distro's default
