Hi again,
I can get a Tekram DC310U PCI Ultra-SCSI controller (based on the
Symbios Logic SYM53C860 SCSI-3 Chip) for the same price as
the Advansys 3940UA. It uses the sym53c8xx.o driver.
Should I go for that instead?
Thanks!

I can get this controller from buy.com for CDN$79 so it's very
cheap. I intent to use it mostly for external devices (CDRW,
Zip, and an Ultra-SCSI ORB 2.2 GB removable-media drive).
Anyone have comments or better suggestions?
Thanks!
BTW, I already have an Adaptec 2940U Ultra-SCSI controller

Hi!
We are getting a new Linux-server really soon - I heard it might come
tomorrow
Can anyone recommend an Ultra SCSI controller that works under Linux?
I'm looking to hang several of the new 18GB Barracuda/Cheetah Seagate drives
off of one...
I'm currently looking at the BusLogic Flashpoint BT-950.
Is anyone using this card? Any comments?

Have you looked at the software RAID? Is it more flexible because you
can run it with hard disks with different geometry.
!!! ??? I've never heard of this under Linux?
Can anyone provide more info?

My install problem resided in an ultra [ie, fast-20, 20 MHz, not wide-scsi]
speed scsi drive.
Ultra-scsi worked, tape drives worked, but an ultra-scsi disk drive and
a scsi tape drive would not work on the same daisy chain.
On bootup, I entered my Adaptec 2940UW setup to disable ultra-scsi
without lights for half
the price of the SCSI sentry.
I DISABLED support for ultra speed.
You might get this to work with all-ultra-SCSI peripherals on the bus, and
make sure your terminator is the right one for ultra-SCSI.
I find some SCSI cables don't work with some controllers. My SGI is
horrible
